I believe that the Iranian government know of something pending. Dosent anyone else think it is extremely weird that there is fuel rationing in Tehran.
MP Gholam-Reza Mesbahi-Moghadam called the rationing plan a wise decision made to safeguard Iran’s national interests.

And now especialy with the crisis beginning in N.Y. city.

They have obviously started to stock pile all the fuel they can get now before a complete cut off from the western world.

A British proposal to target Iran’s national shipping lines under a draft UN sanctions resolution could temporarily curb Tehran’s ability to export oil to world markets, maritime sources said yesterday.
The confidential draft, obtained by Reuters on Friday, suggests denying rights of passage to Iranian merchant ships in foreign waters. The withdrawal of landing rights for Iranian aircraft is also suggested

We are on a definate collision course.

Recent Israeli statements put the time for such a conflict as later this year or in 2008 at the latest. The timing is determined by Iran's rush to an irreversible nuclear capability.

Yes of course Iran knows. Ahmadinajad (sp?) is an astute man despite some of his views and that is borne out in the long letter he wrote to Bush not that long ago.

Iran unlike say Iraq is not as closed off to the outside world and the Iranian people have a greater level of sophistication and education than most of their neighbors. It's also a mistake to think of Iranians as wholly Arab as the persian influence remains very strong and distances them a little from more traditional Arab nations.

Fuel rationing is because they lack the refinery capacity to produce their own petroleum for cars etc. Not because they're stocking up for war.

They do know that USA or Isreal may be planning a first strike against their nuclear targets etc.

I suspect they also have some plans in hand that we don't expect.

There is an allegation that Al Quaeda have already planted A-bombs in key US cities. A very scary thought. Could be bluff, just to inhibit the West. My view is the Iranian government suffers a paranoid psychosis and I am well used to conflict with a Paranoid psychotic person. Bluff and threats are part of their armoury.

I believe channel 4 news stated Irans reasoning behind the rationing was because they were concerned their fuel facilities may be hit and / or an embargo may be a precursor to any sudden strike from Israel / USA.

It's not for nothing they took delivery of the new Russian Anti-air systems.

When you only have a limited number of refineries, it suppose you had better get all the air defense systems you can, huh?

Ahmanutjob may be a smart man, and withstanding the speculation given already, there are top US analyst sitting back laughing their collective arses off over this. Talk about gross governmental mismanagement, only a 'dumb' nutjob could have planned better. Iran is sitting on a load of oil and yet imports 40%+ of its gas and diesel needs? Hell, even with all that oil, Iran is carrying a huge budget deficit and an inflation rate of nearly 25-30%.

Iran preparing? For what? LOL, you guys soaking up what the Iranian propaganda minister wants you to think or believe? Notions of Iran's preparing/preparations for "whats coming" is more like Iran trying to cover further indications of Ahmanutjob's governmental incompetence and mismanagement. What better way to do that then by spreading the belief that the Iranian government is seemingly preparing for "whats coming"?

Would such an embargo also include other nation's tanker-shipping, such as China, that have oil-agreements with Iran? Or just Iranian-registered ships?

The problem of using denial of oil-export as a weapon is that it's going to rile other nations against this policy, and could effectively be construed as an act of war by Iran

Do you think that the petrol rationing is just for money to go back to the people.?
Not once have tthey said they are running out of petrol.
Why wouldn't they stock up for war because pf lack of refinement.

I thought it was reported less than a week ago that Israel had finalised a strike plan? I'll go seek a link if it helps I'm sure I read that somewhere.
