Warm-Blooded Plants!

Topic started on 27-6-2007 @ 11:07 AM by AMANNAMEDQUEST

Learn something new everyday! There is a family of plants that can melt surrounding snow. Potatoes, skunk cabbage and lotus' can generate their own heat. Something to consider when wondering about life on other planets.

Skunk cabbages can bloom inside a snowbank and create their own ice caves. "You can break through the snow and look into these fantastic spaces,"

Careful... next thing you know someone on here will start claiming that those plants are the ones really responsible for global warming.

Besides that, yes it is really interesting.

It's stuff like this that more people need to know and experience.

There's enough stuff on this planet to fill a dozen Sci-fi books, it's just knowing where to look.

Thanks for the replies, We have to keep reevaluating everything we think we know. The plants cannot handle frost but generating the amount of heat they can is impressive enough.
