Exactly correct....They have damaged ufology more than they have yet to realize.

Only the best cases, with the best witnesses, with supporting documentation, ie photo's and video's should be considered.
Ufology has a credibility problem.
If we want to be taken seriously, the standards need to be really high...maybe even higher than Mufon's.

Making excuses for every inconsistency will never lead to anything but "high strangeness"

Some may want that type "reporting" to continue for obvious reasons...but it is up to the ufo community to finally stand up and demand accountability.

Making excuses for everything in this case from lies to non-existent photo-witnesses, to LMH covering up or destroying evidence is shameful.

Combine that with the arrogant and disrespectful attitudes of most of the DRT, and Ufology has been dealt a stinging, embarrassing episode.

The cultists of the DRT don't get this and never will...our deprogramming attempts have failed.

Everything they do is framed in belief.....and doomed to failure

Now that it has calmed. I would like to know from OTF whether his partner and coinventor of the light meter advertised along with other scientific equipment at Unihedron in Ontario., Doug welch, is involved in any way with co authoring any work related to this saga. Both are excellent A.stronomers and Photometrists . Secondly, being astronomers I would like to know why you did not recognize or give any importance to the ancient astronomical device I first submitted when I was saying that the numbers on the LAP corresponded to constellation stars used in seasonal mapping. And I resubmitt the question again do they , and if you cannot will Doug look at them for you, and complete the missing information.

Those that promote a hoax are either victims of the hoax and they believe the hoax to be real, or they promote the hoax because they are the originators of the hoax itself.

In the case of the DRT, I believe they are victims of a hoax and at the same time, their ranks have been infiltrated by the original hoaxers.

When a group forms to promote a hoax as a real event, the hoaxers can ease back and let the "believers" do the rest of the promotion.

In other words, the hoaxers stop pushing their hoax and instead push the "believers" (DRT), who will promote the hoax with a dedicated passion.

What we have going on here is manipulation for gratification.

I agree 100% I believe whoever is behind this can be found very near the DRT group! Several names come to mind instantly as likely culprits!!!

This DRT forum was created for the discussion of the reality of the drones.
Other forums exist for hoax discussion.

This is a research forum ... not meant for opinions.

This, plus the wording in the drone "FAQ" that it exists to "explain away" hoax theories, makes me laugh whenever anyone from the DRT attempts to claim they are objective.

That, and the fact that they place any merit at all on the opinions of Lev, a known liar and even hoaxer (not to mention utter loon), demonstrates, IMO, what an unprofessional approach they are taking to their supposed "investigating."

Oh yeah, and then there's that "character" comment from Tomi...

My partners and I have worked hard at making ATS the most obvious place to get huge attention at a worldwide level knowing the main stream media reads this site daily and uses us as source. Heck in the past month threads on ATS have been used as source material for stories written in The New York Times, WIRED, San Francisco Chronicle, they've been picked up by Reuters, API and every news wire on the planet.

With over 2,000,000 visits in the month of May, 2008 alone, it's pretty easy to figure out why the hoaxers flock here like moths to the flame and why the promoters do the same.

All that being said, it also offers us a great opportunity to do exactly what Wayne/"Secretweb" is suggesting. It is my hope that in the very near future (if it's not already this way) anything that is not on ATS probably doesn't matter and anything that can't pass muster on ATS is a hoax.

Our membership has consistently shown the ability to out a hoax in short order. That happens, in part, because we have experts like Jeff Ritzmann, David Biedny, Wayne/"Seretweb", "Internos", etc... But it has more to do with the thousands of eyes and minds that are always available here to do the research into every nook and cranny and get to the facts.

I like the idea of a "panel", matter of fact I think we have one already, and it's called AboveTopSecret.com.

Fun hoaxers usually like to be imperfect. This makes the hoax a real joy. Maybe there are other kinds of hoax, but despite "all the work put into this" I see a lot of funny elements here.

To keep the regulars of this thread informed, I've passed on the 'ace in the hole' question that would weed out any potential people coming forward faking being the hoaxer responsible. Its been passed on to David Biedny and Springer and not passed futher on so far for the reasons I mentioned earlier in the thread.

If we keep weeding out the fakes and charlitans when / if one day somthing real comes along it has a far btter chance of stading up and not being sidelined or ignored. Added to this I really hate seeing people being taken for a ride on the 'fake train'.

ATS will always be a magnet for fakers and charlitans due to its size, its one of the quickest ways for a person to get exposure, whether it be for good reasons or bad. So in my purely personal opinion we have a duty as members to not let it become the fakers play ground.

well done, but I am interested more in dismantling the hoax machine, the cotton giins behind these one after another stories that seem to have common players and common avenues of promotion. How do we hold outlets like earthfiles doing what they did in this story and even now continue to promote ring sightings in heavily populated areas but no one else but one recalls it after 3 years and only after being jarred by an LMH report. These people do not care about panels, thats why they won't submit to mufon or any other credible group. They wont even fess up to a mistake. just keep trucking on. One can imagine several websites colluding, by prior arrangement .and this has happened before. You have OM yielding under some sort of distorted loyalty to Earthfiles and Ovnis, because they can get them publicity some how, Imagine another website owner, banning opposition members here. Shocking This is unheard of unless they have some interlocutory understanding.. And its obvious they are imploding yet do not hesitate to continue this horrendous hoax.

Because of the fact they use this as a base to keep the thing in the air and alive..perhaps the one good thing..we can do do..is lock the thread and deny them comfort. ARC can continue elsewhere, or on otther things and I do have a place in mind. It can be reopened when we get the Hoaxters,Hoax solved..
I'm not interested in any official panel, but every tool as waynes has is welcome, we just did this on a lark, just good people doing the right thing.

I do have my moments...comically speaking!! Seeing as i have been banned from OM, once again, this time for pointing out that Nemo (their newest Mod and leader of the DRT) has an agenda to spam earthfile advertisements into every thread and promote LMH as a credible investigator, i suppose only those at ATS will be blessed with my occasional literary gems!!

Couple of points I would like to make (apologies if they have already been made).

Firstly, not all of the drone eyewitnesses are anonymous or currently publicly uncontactable.

Whitley Streiber saw a drone, you can read the encounter here.

As far as I am aware he hasn't been interviewed by LMH.

This leaves two possibilities.

1. Even LMH doesn't believe his story (and where does that leave his credibility ?).
2. LMH has failed to interview a known witness (which further damages her credibility).

Secondly, if the original image releases and subsequent Isaac disclosure appeared scripted, the script didn't necessarily end at that disclosure. Maybe the ARC needs to run a black project.

Lets face facts here! If LMH believed the drones were real she would be standing in line to collect her Pulitzer right now!! The fact that SHE didnt go to MSM with the story proves IMO she knows it is all BS. She would rather have her cronies in the DRT make fools of themselves on national TV to get a little free promotion for her site.

This would be the biggest news story in history if these things were actually flying around and Linda Moulten Howe would be a household name!

Yes we have seen that and commented on the new years party hardy 2005 drone , and the incredible snow machine in texas. I think the latter was skinny dipping in the forest and gave the cop the evil eye as I understands. Of course the stephansville thing nearby was mentioned with the hope that some of the good aura would rub off on this sighting via that "blackout". It has not helped her ratings any, and I expect about a hundred more of these before she gives up. She went on national (well c2c to be accurate recntly ) and literall an open plea for more witnesses, anyone with ANYTHING pleeeeze..yes ..

Now, There is a slight possibility there is a potential martket if that fails, and can be recycled as hoola hoops. But I think that fad went out in the 50's. As for our dear boy whitley, as a witness, how do you interview someones dream? Yes I believe the problem is they wont let anyone interview them, iits a closed circle as well as closed logic. They want to keep it that way Chunder and Shad and friends.
But, as you say, business is business, and whoever her business manager is should be complimented, throwing good money after bad. In fact..I hope they keep it up..If they dont know the first rule of getting yourself out of a hole is to stop digging, the least we can do is give them a bigger shovel.

One is a link to a contest that an entrant posted some fascinating art that predates Caret art by 3 years ie 2004. The author is a Christopher A Smith , senior graphics consultant for Coca Cola.
