A national emergency alert announced on local television and radio stations throughout Illinois this morning appears to be the result of a human error in Washington, D.C.

Four alerts were heard — at 7:33 a.m., 7:49 a.m., 7:55 a.m. and 8:07 a.m. The alerts came from the National Emergency Alert System, which originates its signal with the Illinois Emergency Management Agency in Springfield.

some beleive this is the cause...

sounds like something happened that the gov. didnt want anyone to know about.. probably a fleet of aliens or something along those lines that someone did the right thing and pulled an alarm but you cant broadcast 'alien invasion' without the gov. shutting your butt down.

I guess there is another thread about this now...

I also heard there was a huge rainstorm today in Chicago...
