That's what Indiana University experts say. The Scottish farm salmon is among the most tainted with cancer-causing chemicals and they advise it is
only safe to eat it once every one or two months.
"We think it is important for people who eat salmon to know that farmed salmon have higher levels of toxins than wild salmon from the open ocean"
states Professor Ronald Hites, University of Indiana.
The Scottish salmon industry has responded stating the study is "misleading" and that levels of "contaminants" are within EU, US and UK
thresholds.
Is this the newest "mad-cow" type scare? Not only can beef not be trusted, but now salmon as well? Or does it simply divert attention from the
publicity of the discovery of mad-cow disease in American cattle?
