although it wont help your immediate problem i find that there are differences in centrelink offices depending on the demographics. Like me if i have to deal with them(anyone is bris will know exactly what im talking about) I can go to either mt gravatt or woodridge. The difference in the staff stress levels and people in the lines is amazing. Having to go to centrelink is such an unpleasant chore, but finding a "deader" branch helps


Maybe the gov could bring in unemployment non interest loans. This would be good for people who dont meet the welfare requirements while not leaving them destitute.

I found this very interesting as I am one of those people who got a huge debt, forturately I was one of the lucky ones who was successful in fighting for a debt waver. Can you please tell me where you got your figures for your first post the part where you said:

At a point in 2001, 570,000 people had to be called by select members of Centerlink staff to inform them that they were overpaid and that they would have to pay the money back however because of the election at that time there was a quandary,

The quandary being that the current member in the election had social security willing to waive the first one thousand dollars of these repayments, now for many this was nice because a substantial group of people had repayments that were under the amount that was going to be waived but there was another group of people who actually would have to pay back money about 190,000 people to be exact.

Is that your only problem in Australia? Are you just now coming to the realization that all bureaucracies are self serving and government bureaucracies are the worst since they aren't really accountable to the people they supposedly serve?

Here in the US we have a cadre of corrupt leaders hell bent on the destruction of the republic. The welfare system they created, including the so-called social security pension fund has bankrupted the country. We have no real border controls on our southern border, no doubt to facilitate the drug trade, which certain segments of government are using as an additional tax base.

Spending is out of control and our currency is being debased to almost worthlessness. Breakthrough energy devices are suppressed so that the dependency on foreign oil, that funds terrorists and hostile governments continues unabated.

Our welfare system has always encouraged slackers and at one time was a great way to fund a crack addiction. Just get pregnant and you'd get more money for your new crack baby.

Our government controlled education camps have one goal in mind. Remove any vestiges of religious or moral training so that citizens can be good pleasure mad slaves of the feudal state.

Finally, in order to continue to fund an out of control socialistic central government, tax rates need to get up to 50% and higher.

If this is the only problem you have than Australia sounds like a paradise. Can I move there?

In short, its like any system in the world.
It works, it has its misshaps and ofcourse its scams...but at the end of the day..i would be homeless without it.

Dislike the strong unimportance they seem to have with most of their customers though.
