Will 2008's presidential line-up provide a few surprises?

What about all three?

It’s interesting how much of what I have read about these guys paints a plausible avenue for each to be in the final race.

Stranger things have happened…

New Hampshire Dem leader is . . . Al Gore

A New Hampshire presidential poll by WHDH-TV and Suffolk University shows that local Democrats prefer Al Gore to any of the current contenders.

Hillary Clinton has a solid lead over the rest of the current Democratic field. The poll, released this afternoon, shows 37 percent of likely Democratic voters backing Clinton or leaning towards her. Barack Obama was at 19 percent, with both John Edwards and Bill Richardson at 9 percent.

Al Gore, however, could enter the race as the leader. When his name is added, Clinton loses more than a quarter of her support, while Gore is backed by 32 percent.

I think what is ironic about this is that Al Gore has many Republicans to thank for this unusual lead position. I believe so many have focused on attacking his GW message that it has renewed public interest in him in a way he would have been unlikely to achieve on his own.

loam, your thread raises the excellent question of the next presidential election.

There are at least 3 wildcards in the race. And 4 or 5 frontrunners, in all.

Gore, if he chose to run would win, I believe.

If he didn't and Bloomberg runs, I think he could be the first viable third party candidate in our history.

fread thompson? Eh. He doesn't do "it" for me. He ain't no Reagan. And that's what those folks are looking for.

Look to the Republicans who are migrating to Obama's camp. That's where its at.

I just wish Gore would reach out to Obama and forge a presidency. They'd serve 4-8 yrs and then - hopefully - Obama would be able to run, and become the first black prez in US history. That would be cool.
