I find it odd that films moved around as much as they did. Other than additions to the list, thereby knocking some films down the list, how could a movie from the first list move up by so many notches? How could Godfather 2 swap places with Casablanca? What happened in the last ten years that would result in one being better than the other now and not then?

just an opportunity to sell old movies.

and does your cough explain how casablanca and godfather 2 could suddeny swap places? #2 and # 3 were both made long before the last decade began and now an updated list comes out with some additions but nothing cracking the top 3 and yet the top three change. how does the second best movie of the last 100 years flip flop with the third best movie of the last 100 years? what makes one better now than it was ten years ago?

No..it was just a cough.

What I pointed out was more of a paradox in the space-time continuum.

Different people making the list that have different opinions?

I'm not really motivated enough (go figure) to check the AFI's site to see how they determined "Top Films". Since it doesn't say "Best Movies" I can't get too squeezed.

But anyone who can seriously claim there are 99 movies better than Ben Hur needs to have their opinion card revoked.

Now that you mention it, I don't see "Airplane" on there, either.

Spartacus at 81. I can see that. But Ben Hur barely making the cut? You've GOT to see how ludicrous that is.

Spartacus? Ben Hur? what are you trying to tell us?

You brought up gladiator movies, eh? I just found one on the list. The ol' "sword and sandal" epic.

But if I must come out, yes I am a movie fan.

#28 All About Eve- wake me when it's over

#35 Annie Hall- ditto

#37 The Best Years of Our Lives- poignant for its time, but top100? No.

#59 Nashville - who the hell even saw it?

#61 Sullivan's Travels - Preston Sturges satire. Seriously, rent that and tell me it's one of the top 100.

I'd replace about 30% of that list. And move the other 70 around.

Plus, not a single Steve Reeves flick mentioned. WTF?

I never bothered to look at the entire list. I know Porky's isn't on it and I know I Spit On Your Grave is also missing so why bother?

I guess "Kiss the Blood Off My Nephew" must've been 101.
