This group has been in the news and first surfaced with a 1950 self-help book written by L. Ron Hubbard....Dianetics. With us tonight is Ron Haugen. Ron WAS a member of this organization for 14 years and served as one of the group's public relations representative out of New York for some 7 years. He's agreed to help shed some light on what is it about Scientology [and its predecessor subject Dianetics] that seems to show no let up as a topic of news. Since "moving on" and choosing to sever his involvement with the group in early 1985, Ron has continued his personal quest for self-enlightenment through seminars, self-help books, certification trainings in clinical hypnosis and neuro-linguistics and taken a renewed interest in Metaphysics working towards his Doctorate in this field. He currently works as a property manager for several Long Island estates and has been an adult education teacher covering such topics as Positive Thinking, Past Lives Revisited, and cultivated one's 6th Sense or innate intuition. This is the first time in 22 years he is speaking publicly about his time in Scientology and Dianetics.
