greatlakes, - that is the building I was speaking of. I'm also not worried about someone looking for me. My employer is not on any of these mapping sites. Thanks for the concern though. That, and I haven't given anyone a reason to. I was spouting locations just to give my perspective on the area, and describe the location.

True, but it is normal for the government to hire private companies for many types of work if needed. I do think that if it was a gov't issue, they would use their own storage though. Either that, or Cox is recording all info that flows through their broadband connections. Probably just data storage and networking systems.

could you give us some more info like what the guards are carring, how big the trucks are and how often they arrive?

Nope, just plain white box trucks. They looked like flat-nosed rental trucks. About a 19' - 20' container I would say.

As for what the guard had? Who knows. I saw a car sitting outsude the location with a security officer in the car. Probably just to call the police if anyone tried to gain access. That was the first time I noticed the building. The last two times I checked it out, there was no guard, car, or signs of people at all. Like someone else pointed out, no employee parking either.

Things have changed in the post 911 world. After 911, the energy company I worked was imformed by insurance carriers, etc that having a data center in a large office building (70+ stories) was too large a risk. Data had to be off site. The company contracted with a secure data center to supply servers, etc and those were connected back to the office space over large bandwidth lines. It also provided a backup site for operations in a disaster. We had desktops there also.

The center was guarded and had biometric controls. I had clearance to go to the center for IT support issues. I am sure it was by no means to most secure type of center that has been built.

There are most likely 100s of similar sites all over the country with varing degrees of secuity. These data centers are another money maker for businesses. I'll bet insurance companies manage to make money off forcing companies to use them, if they don't actually own some of them.

Oh yes, I have no doubt that the NSA could "hack" and "find out" who the user account is...

That's why you find/create an entire clean identity.

If you find a chum willing to to this for the cause in another country (all preliminary contact done w/encrypted email) -- they could always claim that their account was "hacked" ... hell, even fake a "hack" onto that dude's legit site w/his permission to post this stuff.

This site only exists due to large public interest in the states.This is just a commercial venture, sure Skeptic,Simon etc etc constantly defend it, that they have interests in the subjects here.That doesn`t mean there telling the truth though.I believe that Simon does have some interest in the subjects here, but I think money is the driving force behind the site more than uncovering Above Top Secrets.

Could also be because the Secrets we seek here don`t really excist, just manufactured by site such as this, books and the media in programmes such as the X-files,the Unexplained and Hollywood.

people with nothing to lose are not entrusted with secrets.
people who are entrusted with secrets are trusted for a reason
because if they break that trust they have something to lose.

Cox Communications bought this building, whihc is operated as a secure computer data center facility. A computer data center brings redundant electricity and cooling systems to operate thousands of computer servers. While the seller was technically the local county economic development department, it was effectively a former MCI computer data center that was offered for sale in the wake of MCI's bankruptcy prior to Verizon's purchase of the remnants of MCI.

my personal opinion is a reaserch center of some kind? Back when the SR-71 was being devloped, a company called Links (Now L-3 Communications), was working on it, I think they were devloping the simulator for it, anyways, the main headquarters for their devlopement department was the back rooms of a busy supermarket! This was near Beale AFB. No kidding, verifiable if you do the reasearch. Really though, seems like all that hightened security and razor wire would just highten suspicions. If the vans were marked w/ a company logo and there was no "visiable" security would you have been suspicious at all? Probably not! Like somebody else said, "the best place to hide is in plain sight"
