He started training that when he was a school boy. He used to get bored in school and would sit at his desk and put his hands under it and isometrically push up against the bolted down desktop.

Try it, but focus on your shoulder blades, and you'll feel them start to move away from the body, like wings.

After 15 years of doing that, (and moving to pushing up against a bar placed in a squat rack), he developed the extraordinary shoulder strength that enabled him to do that, among other things.



Of course he worked on his abs also demonstrating it in the famous
'Dragon Flag', a supine planche on a bench press station.



This was part of his program to be able to 'extend power'.
