All they have to do is control the nations food supply.

His horsie has to be stopped very very soon, i would say, before he reaches the point where its too late and we find ourselves with a self nominated dictator.

Nobody listens to Bush anymore anyway... I mean nobody, that's why he's not out compaigning for McCain because he's such a loser everyone, even his own party, want him as far away as possible... Heck, nobody can even find Dick (Head) Cheney lately...

If there is a Militia (which there are), and a safe zone posting them here would be a horrible idea. I shouldn't have to explain why. Instead of searching for the answers in a public forum get out in the REAL WORLD and do something. Find the people you are asking about. Heck be the one to start it.

I see all these posts about whoa is me what should I do. The first thing you do is take responsibility and act on it. I for one have my plan set and ready to go, and that's all I am going to say about it on a PUBLIC forum.

We need to trust our beloved president. He'd never hurt us and only wants what's in our best interest, and if he says we need to sacrifice our freedom to protect us, we should do whatever he says. He's the president of the free world, and this is America.

No matter how you look at it martial law would not last very long.

Even IF they got U.S. soldiers to turn on the american public under false pretenses by staging another "terrorist" attack, presumably under the guise of domestic terrorism, it wouldn't be long before our soldiers realized what was really going on and refused to allow it to go any further.

Even IF they got U.N. troops to do it for them the civilians and/or military of this country would completely decimate them.

Even IF the U.N. and/or U.S. military followed their illegal orders, do the math... 300 million armed and pissed off civilians Vs. maybe 10 million (at the very best) military personel? That's an average of what 30 against 1?

But you have to look at the big picture here.
Our military took an oath to defend us FROM our government if the need ever arised.

Thanks to the Nuremberg trials any soldier who commits a crime can be prosecuted for that crime, even if that soldier is following an order. Knowing this would you carry out an illegal order against your own nation?
Not to mention the fact that our soldiers are every bit as human as you and I. They have families and friends and I'm sure they wouldn't be naïve enough to think their family and friends would be immune to the effects of martial law.

The citizens of this nation would revolt, riot, and burn this whole country to the ground if pressed far enough.

Look what happened during the L.A. riots when a jury acquitted four police officers accused in the videotaped beating of Rodney King. Thousands of people in the Los Angeles area rioted over the six days following the verdict. Widespread looting, assault, arson, and murder occurred, and property damages totaled one billion dollars.
I think martial law is a little bit more serious than the Rodney King trial, and would be perceived that way by the citizens of the entire nation.

The president is constantly surrounded by marines. I know a few marines and they are hardcore patriots. The marines that I know would gladly curb stomp their own grandmother if they thought granny was attempting to enslave their whole nation.

If martial law is enacted I hope it is U.N. troops they use, for two reasons.
1. I think the world of our soldiers, and although I would do it if I absolutely had to, it would really rip me up inside to have to shoot one of our own.
2. Blue helmets are much easier to see through a high powered scope.

there are over 24,000,000 active militia in the United States and half of them are police officers.

When martial law is declared u need to have a backpack with rations(food) and weaponry even if its a knife, and change of clothes.

GET OUTA THE CITY, get into the mountains and wilderness ASAP!, If you wait to long the military will have your town surrounded and you aren't going anywhere except to a camp.

After you reach the wilderness you should notice troop formations and movements of Militia heading for Washington D.C, you're safe join them and goodluck.

You are totaly correct in assuming that our own military won't be so fast to harm it's own citizens. The government knows this and that is the reason that there are literally, thousands of foreign troops on U.S soil right now, as we speak. Troops that have come back from Iraq have been coming forward and letting people know that while they were stationed in Iraq that they were asked point blank by commanding officers, if they would be willing to shoot and kill their own friends and family during marshal law, if ordered to do so.

Forgive me, I didn't read the numerous pages of posts; however, I wanted to give my opinion on the question you posted in the title of this thread.

The answer is simple. (1) the US Constitution; (2) The House of Representatives; (3) The Senate; (4) The Judicial system; (5) The Law Enforcement at every level; (5) the US military; and (6) last but CERTAINLY not least, the US Citizens.

A dictatorship will NEVER occur in the USA...unless there is a major upheaval that includes a civil war. We have too many checks and balances in place to allow something like that to happen. Also, who would enforce martial law in the event he even tried to become dictator? certainly not the military...least we forget that the troops have civilian brothers, sisters, aunts uncles, cousins, moms, dads, grandparents, etc....AND the troops also realize that they too have been and will again be civilians.

The scenario you place before us is everything our country is against and is just that...a SCENARIO....maybe a good movie script...but not a very good depiction/prediction of any form of reality.

Just my 2-cents

Well, if power is to change over to Obama on the 20th and Bush thinks something will happen on the 21st, then NO. If a president could do this based upon belief, what would stop any president from doing this. A belief, or even good intelligence would not stop a change of power. What would make Bush think he is better equipped to handle this than Obama anyway? I know he is full of himself, but that would be HARD to explain to the 'Merican People.
