I hesitate to put the blame squarely on Bush, and instead feel that Congress is at fault for not dealing with this for so long and that the Supreme
Court has not been vigilant enough in enforcing constitutionality. These failures have been blatantly obvious throughout the history of our nation,
and the sooner that we do something, the better.
This is something that, if left unchecked, can completely dismantle our republic. While Bush is not entirely to blame (I look more to people like
Lincoln and Franklin Roosevelt for that), his actions are the perfect example of what is wrong with the system. Perhaps it would be wise to start a
petition?
I advise all of you to call and/or write your senators and representatives and encourage them to do what is right. Additionally, send your thanks to
Senator Arlen J. Specter of Pennsylvania for attempting to put a check on presidential power.
And Grover, you can wait more than four and a half hours before complaining that no one replied to your thread.
