The applications for this discovery are immense, to say the least. with the capability of being to serve as a possible aircraft purpulsion plant, "You would be flying before your teeth!!"

As a tactical application for aircraft, it set's the standards of going into the next generation's of our Stealth and low orbital capabilities. Though they did not supply the actual video of the test, it look's as if the new generation of human speed and flight are here, or will be sooner than anticipated. Applications are endless, the technology is amazing.

Future defence applications for hypersonic vehicles include long-range time critical missions, with civilian applications including low-cost satellite launching and high-speed aircraft.

Something we should all be watching and waiting for. It would be the dominant factor of any conflict or humanitarian concepts for fast response with unheard of speeds for an aircraft. They are not far off.

AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE OI OI OI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great news indeed.
Australia's Defence Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO) and the United States Air Force have signed an agreement to advance research into hypersonic (Mach 5 or higher) flight. The 8-year program has been established as a Project Arrangement under an existing research and development agreement between Australia and the USA, and the USD $54 million Hypersonic International Flight Research Experimentation (HIFiRE) project is one of the largest collaborative ventures to be undertaken between the two nations. It will have obvious implications for projects like DARPA's FALCON, both as a boost to its ambitions for lower-cost satellite launches and an obvious feed-in to spaceplane projects (see our FALCON HTV Focus Article). Hypersonics also has potential implications for missile projects like the $120 million RATTLRS contract, not to mention the dual-combustion ramjet approach of HyFly et. al.
