Yes, it's the librul's fault good God-fearin' Christians can't harass their homosexual co-workers with impunity...

You know, Jesus taught tolerance and love, the thing you people have no concept of.

And of course, I guess the opposite is not possible ? In 2001, I had a gay co-worker who was allways harrassing a straight co-worker. The gay has been fired.

The intolerance of some on this board is shocking.

It's no wonder you don't get why that guy was fired.

I would like someone to define "Tolerance" for me please.

Does it mean that I must digest anethamaic material everyday in my workplace??

Does it mean I must ACCEPT the ways of others that are opposite of the way I raise my children?? Run my life??

If I can not place verses on my desk in my cube out of the main veiw of others, then is this not censorship?? Why is my faith belief an attack on homosex??

Get real.

Why can't these people just agree to disagree, like adults (the gay company / and christian employee)

Hewlett Packard is a GAY COMPANY!?!?!

You know, I bought my Audi GT Coupe off an HP - SE back in 1990....no wonder it was so clean & smelled like flowers!

But Jumpin' Bejeebus, the guy posts bible quotes about murdering homosexuals, in response to gay co-workers.
Most IT guys are a step away from Postal Workers anyway, so the company is a 100%

Exactely what I tryed to point. " Gays have now more rights than straight & if you try to point it.....Well, you know what will be your fate !!! At least you'll be called a fanatical religious, especially if you're Christian ".

P.S : And I'm not a Christian fundamentalist.

Gays have more rights! Yeah try it for yourself for a while or just pretend, see how many rights you really get. For every headline grabbing rant about 'special treatment' there's a dozen incidents of bigotry and predjudice that never get near the light of day.

The guy did not get fired for having a cross or Xtian symbol on his desk, he got fired because he chose deliberately to display provocative lines of scripture to send a message out to his fellow gay co-workers. Don't turn him into a f***ing martyr he's anything but.

BTW what about the 'christians' who were sacked from my company because they continually harrassed a gay worker, while claiming he should have a burning tyre put around his neck then spread lies about him which could have had serious repercussions had he not been able to completely disprove their vile gossip. Are they being persecuted for their beliefs, is he demanding special treatment. If a gay person put up a sign attacking Xtians I would fully expect him to recieve the same treatment as this jerk did but then again, unlike some I'm not selective in what I see as intolerant behaviour.

Certainly.

Does it mean that I must digest anethamaic material everyday in my workplace??
If forced to? No. However, "tolerance" supposes that you accept others as they are, as long as they are not hurting you or others.

Does it mean I must ACCEPT the ways of others that are opposite of the way I raise my children?? Run my life??
No. "Tolerance" and "acceptance" are two different things. I don't accept that Country Music is music... but I tolerate those who do.

If I can not place verses on my desk in my cube out of the main veiw of others, then is this not censorship?? Why is my faith belief an attack on homosex??
It depends which "verse" you're talking about. As in this case, the person who was the topic of this thread posted this in his cubical for all to see: Leviticus 20:13 "If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them." It's not hard to see that such a verse is an implied threat. That was not "tolerant". BTW: Leviticus is a nasty place for anyone who even wants to look in the wrong direction. According to this... we should kill children who swear at their parents: 20:8 And ye shall keep my statutes, and do them: I am the LORD which sanctify you. 20:9 For every one that curseth his father or his mother shall be surely put to death: he hath cursed his father or his mother; his blood shall be upon him. Since no parents are seemingly following this absurd piece of advice from Leviticus, can we also assume the other piece of advice about homosexuals should also be tossed out? It's a wonderful thing when entire chapters are examined in context, and not just single verses. [Edited on 9-1-2004 by SkepticOverlord]

Agreed. If a fool says gay have more rights... Have you ever seen a hetereosexual being denied ability to marry in any states? Sadly, gays don't have rights as much as they should. Why? Because of prejudice and reason that just have no purpose...But to hate.

The man should have been asked to take away the verses, if he denied, he should have been fired. That simple. The workplace is NOT for anything BUT work.

lysergic, he wasnt enforcing his views on anyone. was he forcing them to believe the scripture? did he have a gun to their head, quoting the bible? no, i think not. i see no 'enforcing' here. the way the constitution is written, i should be able to display openly what i please and what i feel is close to me in my religion, just as you should be aswell. however, with this false notion of there being some seperation of church and state, which doesnt legally exist, we cant do that. wonderful world, eh?

No, you shouldn't be able to display anything you want, not if it condones murder.

Agreed, when these spriptures are looked at in their entirety there are a lot more people, including possibly some riding their high horses on this thread who are considered just as wicked and sinful as any gay person. See you all in hell!
