PM Urges Public Not To Believe Rumours

Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont Thursday urged the public to wait for confirmation of news by state-owned broadcast media, saying reports from non-official media tended to be rumours

He said rumours originated from political movements of so the public should verify the information first.

It seems like the only news you can really trust in Thailand are the news coming from state-controlled media. Everything else is rumours, according to the Prime Minister. I guess Thailand is not alone with this situation. In many other countries as well, there are rumours which are not being reported by any state-controlled media. But how do you know whether some media is state-controlled or not?
