So I post threads that seem to me that fit the proper description.
I made one in space exploration as I am a amature astronomer
www.belowtopsecret.com...

Saw my first Iridium flare....
byrd see's fit to move it to general chit chat

I have had four threads moved in four days.

I would say I came here thinking the mods keep a clean place so no trolls, etc....but I find the mod's here to be very biased

I made a complaint and only found mod defending mod

well nothing is perfect but the mod's here while good on trolls are powertrippers themselves

I find that very disrespectful and they do not give good reasons for the moves....just seems like a whim to me.

So I take it I am not stupid, I have never had mods move my threads before at any other site.

I certainly do not want to waste mods time by placing threads in the wrong place, but I certainly donot like my thread moved for no good reason

So whats the deal?

Hey JL, I'm glad you're here as a member. You have a very eclectic background and offer a lot of insight on a variety of topics. Our interests overlap, so I see your contributions frequently.

I'm not the "official mod defender" or anything, but the mods' first and foremost job would appear to be the smooth operation of the site, for everyone's benefit. Moving a thread will frequently be in your best interest. In a site this large with so much information, having the thread in the most appropriate place will ensure it's seen by the maximum number of interested people, thus stimulating the likelihood of responses.

Your particular iridium flare thread had a distinct paranormal twist to it, which was apparently determined to be more appropriate for a forum other than the one you originally posted it in.

It's all good. No forum is superior to any other. They're doing the best they can to find a place for your thread to receive maximum views and responses. I don't think it's a "power" thing at all.

Face it, a lot that goes on is quite subjective. But no one's trying to irritate you or do anything other than the best they can.

In my opinion.

Doesn't bother me when they move my threads...at least they don't let someone tell another person to kill themselves and then ban the person who was told to die.

It was no joke, it was a sarcastic answer to a question. She threw black with it too, was annoyed. Didn't understand my points about the rapture.

They dropped a bluebird feather on her, she even found one in a mail box.
Don't abuse your powers.

Why that dweeb keeps her around, it must be because of the vulgarized traditions, all show, no love.

What a joke.

Well thank you for your answers, I feel better.
I really like this site a lot.
I was hesitant to include the personal feelings of the moment in the original title for fear of bouncing it.
I did not want it construed as a psychic thing
but I did enjoy the personal experience as much as the visual sighting.

I am glad it stayed in the Space Section long enough to allow me to get proper use of the satellite site link that I was a member too and allowed me to identify the satellite and to even see the ISS/Shuttle last night for the first time

So you can see my frustration.
Had it been moved earlier I may have never made those connections so soon...
after it was moved it did die.

junglelord,

Your continued moaning about threads being moved and power-hungry mods is not going to cut it I'm afraid.

You haven't been on the boards very long so please try to understand the ways of our community and the decorum we want to set.

We have advised you of the reason your threads were moved, quite rightly, yet you still seem to think public outcry will somehow allow you to post topics in the wrong forums.

We don't move threads out of spite or hatred, but out of pride to keep ATS/BTS/PTS well organised and easily searchable.

In the nicest possible way, don't get offended if a thread of yours is moved, try and understand why it has happened for future reference. Also, if you have issues with mods... private is the way to go, not public.

I hear ya junglelord, but please bear in mind that the mods are on our side.

I have had threads moved before, most people have I'm sure, and personally, I just accept it and carry on. Sometimes it can be to our benefit. I had a thread moved to a forum because the moderator thought it may recieve more attention.

He was right!

I also imagine certain posts would go un-noticed if not in the best forums.

So don't worry friend, they know what they're doing. They may have power, but they also have responsibility.

Good luck to them, you and all

Just to chime again, even I have had threads moved AND closed for duplication of existing current topics.

It happens to us all.

I saw the thread and was wondering why the heck it was in science instead of paranormal or chitchat or something. It really needed to be moved to a better forum. Many of the posters in the thread were saying that exact same thing.

So maybe the moderator was responding to complaints. They do that. They're supposed to.

And anyway, it's just a thread move, f'r catssakes. Why all the drama? I can see howling about it if they move all your threads to "Goofy Dipstick Whacko Postings" at WayOutBack.com ... but they didn't.

I think, however, that if the people responding to your thread are saying "it belongs somewhere else", then you really ought to get the clue that it's going to be moved by a moderator... whichever moderator gets it first.

Bottom line: regulars in the forum were complaining it needed to be moved. A moderator moved it. You attack the moderator. Why don't you attack those of us who were saying it needed to be moved?

I was just told to remove the link to my photo album, because there were artistic pictures I'd taken of myself in the mirror. They weren't pornographic, they showed, stomach, back, legs and one boob. It's legal to go topless where I live. NOT that I do...

Anyway, they told me to remove them from the link. What bothers me is every other web site you click on, on any board has pornographic imagery in its advertising or just is pornographic.

Some man is making money on those.

I'm a full grown woman, a mother of two and I can't post a blurry side view of my breast, but if it was in an advertising or part of a link like that, then it seems fine.

I'm insulted by the vulgarity and crudity of the pornographic imagery in the advertisements..Most women are repulsed by the barbarity of purely sexual pornography. The kind that is so common and makes women so common. My pictures were beautiful.

It doesn't matter that you are a full grown woman or that advertisers in your area of the world use similar imagery. What matters is that ATS is a privately owned site with clear terms and conditions of use that you agreed to when you joined. Nudity, no matter how beautiful or artistic is not allowed on these boards....

It's NOTHING against you personally....ATS just doesn't allow these types of adult images.

You better delete all the bikini pictures then.

In the middle East, the women cover up because it makes men lust. It's presumed that women are responsible for male lust. They must be very weak.

Say what you want my thread was much better then some of the things taking room on some thread headings....your site is not perfect and neither are your mods

I never want to have you put a thread back so your taking it all wrong anyway.

I already asked that and certainly would not waste my time again
but the reason I posted this is to rant
is it not a rant thread?

I also see nothing wrong with asking a public question on a public forum about public posting

since I am new here I wanted a member's view of things
its only fair so I want to know what to think of the action of mods based on members past experience.

seems logical...and public debate is healthy
nothing to hide or need for secrecy

you all told me its nothing personal
I tell you the same thing.
so stop your moaning about being called out to play
