I'm sure this will be posted with links soon, but Bremer just gave a live conference from Iraq with a few surprises.
He's releasing 'detainees' (i.e. Enemy Prisoners) that promise to 'renouce violence' for reintegration into the Iraqi society.
Also, upping some reward programs to capture new prisoners ranging from $10 million to $200,000 for 'lesser bad guys'.
Overall, it's being sold as a goodwill effort, and seems promising... but also risky releasing hundreds of former bad guys.
One could argue they are safe to release since they aren't dangerous... in which case why were they held for nearly a year? OR should anyone on that
release list kill someone... WHOOPS! They were dangerous.
Expect Dean to comment in usual fashion within the day.
