Please post your household cleaning tips here:

Tip 1: Cleaning fluid for carpets and stuffed animals

You'll need a denture brush, rubbing alcohol, dish soap and water.

Mix about 1/4 cup alcohol to 1 Tablespoons dish soap to about 1 cup of water.

Put in spray bottle. Thoroughly wet any stains on carpets or stuffed animals, rub briskly with denture brush and blot with paper towels.

Smells nice, non-toxic, and works like a charm.

Removing scuffs from linoleum and hardwood

Shoe scuffs, who needs 'em? Stupid black smears on the floor, hard to scrub off.

Easy to deal with now, get a washcloth and some plain white toothpaste. Rub vigorously.

I also found that toothpaste is an excellent remover of waterproof mascara, but it does leave your eyes feeling minty fresh -- which is a very odd feeling.

Vinegar and newspapers will clean your windows and mirrors leaving no streaks. Vinegar will also cut soap scum on shower doors.

Permanent Marker on the Walls & Floor

Those who have kids, understand. Those who do not, take note anyway.

Sharpies make a nice mess, and it doesn't come out easily.

The solution: Cheap hairspray, the cheaper the better.

Spray liberally and rub with a cloth until the marks come up.

Major, do you have any idea if this works on MicroFiber???

My tip, buy some Mr Clean Magic Erasers............they work on pretty much everything!!!

I don't, but the microfiber is messed up anyway, right? Won't hurt to try, and will cost you less than $2 for the effort.

ST, this one's for you (if, by microfiber, you mean your sofa):

Cleaning Upholstery

In a well ventilated area, mix the following in a bowl:

1/2 tsp. ammonia
1 tsp. white vinegar
3 Tbl. dish soap
3/4 cup water

Pour into a foamer bottle. Squirt foam on marks, rub with sponge.

Worth a shot, anyway. Try it before you try the hairspray.
