well, i was 16. and it wasn't any specific information, it was more like me realizing what i already knew. the pointlessness of belief. i thought it added to understanding of the human condition... then i realized i knew plenty of secular philosophy existed as did psychology, anthropology, archaeology, and sociology. i thought it added to understanding of the universe... then i realized that god adds nothing to the solution and merely adds more questions.

well, it's only a metaphorical soul... but the madness has been there since... 1997 or 1998

i never said that more questions were bad and didn't add to the solution, i said it

adds nothing to the solution and merely adds more questions.

first it doesn't add anything to the solution AND THEN it adds more questions.

i never said the questions didn't increase...
i'm just saying that in science you tend to add to the solution before bringing in more questions. you have an issue, you find the answer, you get another issue.
god is simply a non-answer
and it creates an infinite regress...

probably, the issue is how advanced they are and how intelligent.

possibly, but not necessarily as or more advanced than our own. for all we know we're the mack-daddy civilization in the universe (now isn't that a thought?)

i'm not sure what to make of the UFO phenomena just yet. i'm agnostic on that issue

I always pictured you as a 30+ years old kind of guy, no offense in any way intended. Its actually a compliment, your debating skills are pretty good, although I think you rely on Dawkins a tad too much.

i think it was what motivates a great many things in my life, boredom coupled with a short attention span.

no, i was really thinking about going into sociology, archaeology, or anthropology. studying groups of people and societies seems a bit more fun than going down to the individual (at least for me)
