I don’t interject Islam, most of sciences came to Europe from Arabs; they have created the zero and the numbers we are using now. They have huge contribution in Math, Chemistry, Physics

I've never got this Islam, Christianity etc invented such and such, surely the actual person or people who invented it...invented it.

For example the Romans are credited with inventing concrete rather than the particular religion that existed at the time, though that could be confusing as the Romans didn't have a set agreement of let all worship God Y, nar we'll worship Gods and Goddesses A, B, C, D, E etc etc

Still

most things that were created by muslims
for example mapping the stars and the compass was so muslims could find the direction to mecca when they pray.

each thing muslims created were either for religous or non religous use

Islam instructs man to use his powers of intelligence and observation.
Within a few years of the spread of Islam, great civilizations and universities were flourishing.  The synthesis of Eastern and Western ideas, and of new thought with old, brought about great advances in medicine, mathematics, physics, astronomy, geography, architecture, art, literature, and history.  Many crucial systems, such as algebra, the Arabic numerals, and the concept of zero (vital to the advancement of mathematics), were transmitted to medieval Europe from the Muslim world.  Sophisticated instruments which were to make possible the European voyages of discovery, such as the astrolabe, the quadrant, and good navigational maps, were also developed by Muslims.

Now then lets get serious about who invented what!!

The Chinese invented it first and if they didn't it wasn't worth inventing!

Paper; so they could write shi5 down.

gunpowder; so they could blow shi5 up.

We don't need no more than that!

Islam's contribution to mathematics:

Two trains leave stations A & B 100 miles apart heading for each other. How many jihadis will be needed on each train to get them to collide, assuming the first junction is 25 miles away from station B? Will additional suicide bombers be needed or will the impact be enough to kill most aboard?

I have an even more impressive stat based on Jews and the nobel prize.

At least 173 Jews and persons of half-Jewish ancestry have been awarded the Nobel Prize, accounting for 23% of all individual recipients worldwide between 1901 and 2006, and constituting 37% of all US recipients2 during the same period. In the scientific research fields of Chemistry, Economics, Medicine, and Physics, the corresponding world and US percentages are 27% and 39%, respectively. Jews currently make up approximately 0.25% of the world's population and 2% of the US population.

VS Muslims and the Nobel Prize

Dr. Ahmad Zaweel is the only Arab scientist to have received the Nobel science prize and the only Muslim to have received one since the death of the Pakistani physicist Dr. Abdul Salam. Yet there are around 1.2 billion Muslims in the world. What then is behind the scientific lethargy in the Islamic and Arab world and the consequent economic backwardness in comparison with the West and the Far East? Is it down to the inability of the Muslim World to isolate science from religion, which, it is suggested, works as a barrier?

Einstein, Bohr, both Jewish.
Relativity and Quantum Physics respectively

only Tesla was not Jewish...but he certainly was not muslim

djohnsto77,

Your post shows a complete and dangerous lack of comprehension. Islam is a religion, not a terrorist group. The media classifies Muslims as "terrorists," "highjackers" and "kidnappers." So why would anyone even look at Islam? Why are so many priests and preachers going to Islam?

David Karesh was a Christian, shall we ban all Christian momentous?
When you compare all of Islam to these terrorists, you essentially say every Sunday clothed bible reading Christian is a Branch Dividian fundamentalist. The linking of such actions to Islam or the Qur’an is incorrect. Rather, such inhumane actions clearly contradict the teachings of Islam - just as the bombing at Oklahoma City by Timothy McVeigh and the killings that occurred at Abraham Mosque, Hebron - Philistine by Dr. Baruch Goldstein clearly contradict the teachings of Christianity and Judaism, respectively.

You cannot steer people's personal faith. Islam is now a part of western culture, wheither you like it or not. It's not just for people in prison, or rock stars looking for a new thing. Some people just associate with Islam more than Christianity. That does for the other side of things too - 70% or so of Americans are Christians, and although many don't like that, it's just the way it is. It's a fact, it can't be changed, and those people are entitled to follow their faith. Acts in the name of christianity have been responsible for some pretty fuc.ed up consequences in the last 100 years.

Arabs created many things, as did Caucasians and Asians.

it doesn't really matter who created what. if Arabs were the cause for the creation of modern numerals then so be it. its not like we credit the French so much for providing us with a large portion of the English language.

Muslim Science and Math Accomplishments. Hmmmmm. Given the spectatular contributions of the past which are undeniable, all I can say is :

What have you done for us lately?

Now admittedly, most of my math instructors in Collage were Persians, who fled Iran when the Shah got ousted. One had actually been a fighter pilot in the Iranian Air Force. Smart guy.

No one should doubt the capability for scientific advancement in the people of the Middle East. However, I think their oppressive religious societies prevent them from utilizing their skills as well as they could.

just for clarification. einstein was only ethnically jewish. he honored the traditions but he didn't follow the religion.

anyway... yeah, the islamic world was experiencing a golden age while the western world was floundering from the collapse of the roman empire.
