Senator Craig Thomas Dies at 74 from Leukemia

WASHINGTON — Wyoming Sen. Craig Thomas, a three-term conservative Republican who stayed clear of the Washington limelight and political catfights, died Monday. He was 74.

The senator's family issued a statement saying he died Monday evening at National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md. He had been receiving chemotherapy for acute myeloid leukemia.

He's been fighting cancer for a while, so this isn't totally unexpected.

It looks like another Republican seat will flip to the Democrats, since the governor of Wyoming is surprisingly a Democrat.

Is that all you can say about a man's death?

No. Of course I feel sorry for him and his family, but as I said, this wasn't exactly unexpected.

Plus this is the political forum so the impact has to be analyzed.

From what I've heard, even though the governor is Democratic, he may have to appoint another Republican to replace him, so it may not have too much of an impact on the composition of the Senate after all.
