This is book two and three out of three chapters from the Visions of Nahum, also known as The Burden of Nineveh, in the Old Testament. Nineveh is in Iraq, and this is talking about the present day situation. This is amazing, just read it and think about the symbolism and the current events over there.. im just like.. wow.

Nah 2:1 The one scattering is coming up against your face. Guard the rampart; watch the way; make the loins strong, firm up your power exceedingly.
Nah 2:2 For Jehovah has turned the glory of Jacob as the glory of Israel. For the plunderers have plundered them and have destroyed their vine branches.
Nah 2:3 The shield of his mighty ones has become red, the mighty men are clothed in scarlet, the chariots will flame like iron torches in the day of preparation, and the cypresses are made to quiver.
Nah 2:4 The chariots run madly in the streets; they shall rush to and fro in the plazas. Their appearance is like torches; they dart about like the lightnings.
Nah 2:5 He shall remember its nobles; they shall stumble in their walking; they shall hurry to its wall, and the covering shall be set up.
Nah 2:6 The gates of the rivers shall be opened, and the palace shall be melted.
Nah 2:7 And she who stood firm is uncovered and caused to go away; and her slave -girls are moaning like the sound of doves, beating on their breast.
Nah 2:8 And Nineveh is like a pool of water from her days; yet they are fleeing. They cry, Stand! Stand! But no one turns himself.
Nah 2:9 Plunder the silver! Plunder the gold! For there is no end to the treasures, riches from all precious objects.
Nah 2:10 She is empty, even waste, even devastated. And the heart is melted, and the knees knocking; and trembling is in all the loins; and all of their faces collect heat.
Nah 2:11 Where is the den of the lions and the feeding place of the young lions, where the lion, and the lioness, and the lion's cub walked, and none shall terrify them?
Nah 2:12 The lion tears in pieces, enough for his cubs, and strangles for his lionesses, and has filled his holes with prey, even his lairs with torn prey.
Nah 2:13 Behold, I am against you, declares Jehovah of Hosts; and I will burn her chariots in the smoke, and the sword shall devour your young lions. And I will cut off your prey from the earth, and the voice of your messengers shall not be heard any more.

---------

Nah 3:1 Woe to the bloody city! All of it is a lie, all of plunder; the prey is not withdrawn.
Nah 3:2 The sound of a whip, and the sound of rattling of a wheel, and a galloping horse, and of a bounding chariot.
Nah 3:3 The horseman lifts up both the gleam of the sword and the lightning of the spear, and many are slain, and there are a mass of dead bodies, and no end of corpses; they stumble on their dead bodies,
Nah 3:4 because of the many harlotries of the well favored harlot, the mistress of sorceries who sells nations by her harlotries, and families by her sorceries.
Nah 3:5 Behold, I am against you, declares Jehovah of Hosts, and I will uncover your skirts over your face, and I will cause the nations to see your nakedness, and the kingdoms your shame.
Nah 3:6 And I will cast filth on you and will disgrace you. And I will set you as a spectacle.
Nah 3:7 And it shall be that all those who look on you shall flee from you and shall say, Nineveh is laid waste; who shall weep for her? From where shall I seek comforters for you?
Nah 3:8 Are you better than No Amon that dwelt among the Nile branches, waters surrounding her, whose rampart was the sea, the waters her wall?
Nah 3:9 Ethiopia and Egypt were her strength, yea, without end; Put and Lubim were among your helpers.
Nah 3:10 Yet she went into exile; she went into captivity. Also her young ones were dashed to pieces at the head of all the streets, and they cast lots for her honored ones, and all her great ones were bound in chains.
Nah 3:11 You also shall be drunken; you shall be hidden; you also shall seek a fortress from the enemy.
Nah 3:12 All your fortresses are fig trees with the firstfruits; if they are shaken, then they shall fall on the mouth of the eater.
Nah 3:13 Behold, your people are women in your midst; the gates of your land shall surely be opened to your enemies; the fire shall devour your bars.
Nah 3:14 Draw water of the siege for you! Strengthen your fortifications! Go into the clay and tread in the mortar! Make the mold strong!
Nah 3:15 Fire will devour you there. The sword shall cut you off. It will eat you up like the locust larvae. Make yourself as many as the larvae; multiply yourself like the locusts.
Nah 3:16 You have increased your merchants above the stars of the heavens; the locust larvae shall strip off and fly away.
Nah 3:17 Your princes are like the locusts, and your officials are a swarm of locusts that camp in the hedges in the cold day. The sun rises and they flee, and the place where they are is not known.
Nah 3:18 Your shepherds slumber, O king of Assyria; your nobles are lying down. Your people are scattered on the mountains, and no one is gathering.
Nah 3:19 There is no healing for your fracture; your wound is severe. All who hear of your report shall clap the hand over you, for on whom has your wickedness not continually passed?

----------------

Now you can draw your own conclusions but what this is describing is completely obvious to me: the plundering of Iraq. The imagery is amazing.

Stuff like the fire coming out of an iron torch in the day of preparation is what he used to describe their "chariots", ie .. mobile vehicles.

Also.. they will be like lightning darting about?

And then in chapter 3, it talks about what seems to be the inhabitants of this place being attacked and plundered, and it says multiple like locusts, because you'll die in all of your fortifications and hiding places. its amazing .. and to speak of dead bodies piled up so high? Um.. can this NOT be Iraq we're talking about here, since Assyria was in modern day Iraq, and Nineveh is an Iraqi province?

Not to mention it states in just these two chapters, of a three chapter book, that people from Egypt, and Put (Libya), and a place I didn't recognize would all be with the inhabitants of "Nineveh" ie Iraq, which it calls the young lions.

im really curious, am i the only person who sees this symbolism here, and how strong it is considering the length of the book and all? or is it just me?

Because ill go quietly off and not bring this up again. But personally, as it stands or until I know any different, this is amazing prophecy about modern day events in Nineveh / Assyria.. which is Iraq.

For example, it talks of what id consider the insurgents, the "young lions".

It says people from Put which is Libya and Egypt and another place will be helping them ie with them, ie foreign fighters?

it describes the insurgency/terrorist ideaology of splintering into cells with the talk of being like the locust, locust larvae, and the larvae birthing and flying off, even stating they act like locusts, waiting in the brush until the right time to fly away, where to no one knows.

your nobles are lying down. this means they are dead, imprisoned, or in hiding. former Baath officials.

it talks of what i consider the coalition forces, the ones fiery red with chariots dashing from street to street like lightning it says. it says they (the chariots) will be like the hot iron rod, that orange fiery color .. the color of bullets whizzing by, and explosions and bombs exploding?

it says the place will be looted of its wealth.

it repeatedly states Nineveh, an ancient province of Assyria, a modern province of north-central Iraq.

there are many, many, many more similarities here but i will leave the rest to you. if you see a similarity here, please reply and let me know im not crazy like my girlfriend says i am.

The bible is a two edged sword;

Now in a vision one of our brothers had about a situation in our nation a hand came down from heaven and the sword was used to smack the thing which was wanting to come into our nation at that time and it went away howling. but in this biblcal passage the sword cuts differently.

It is cute in my opinion top load up all the bad bits of the bible and say "yes these are literal disasters" and attribute them as judgements of "The Jews" or "The Iraqi's" and then imagine that God will continue to pour out all the blessings on USA.
Rather if we can see some nation that is under God's judgment and upon visiting that nation and getting to know it's people we discover that they as similar to us or even have a higher standard of piety and worship of God then....watch out because a God of justice who has allowed us plenty of time to repent.
Now from the Iraqi and Syrians I have met I have been impressed by elements of humility and brokenness and their willingness to cover the sin of another even when they have a harsh Islamic relgion where a sin could be exposed.

By contrast i have never cease to be amazed at how quick some Americans are to judge and if i remember correctly Jesus said "the way in which you judge others is the way that God will judge you'

If I had to leave my nation in a months time and I got residency in Iraq and a Green card to live in USA then the decsion would be a very easy one- i would of course go an live in Iraq because the Amercians wil sometime or other get the hint and leave but the future of USA in terms of what is written in the bible is just too horrible to think about and i honestly cannot understand why anyone still remains there and why there are not more getting out than the few who already have come here. love paul

well considering the al-qaeda in iraq truck bombs that killed 500 in Nineveh just yesterday or today, I bump this back up for reflection.
