For a government who couldnt prevent the 9/11 "terroist" attacks,their sudden 100% success rate of busting "terror" plots is suspicious to say the least.

But from what I've seen in situations like this, it's not the Media that's jumping to said conclusions. For the most part they're just parroting that which is being fed to them from typically "unnamed high-level government officials", "an unnamed source at the White House", etc. Sure they do seem to throw fuel on the fire per se, but then again investigative journalism hasn't been such for quite some time, in my opinion. Gotta get the scoop first, regardless of accuracy or relevance to what Actually happened.

Yeah, I was thinking that too.

I think the reason that NY keeps coming back to this "terrorist plots" is the fact that 9/11 happen there and bringing memories of another 9/11 help keep people's memories fresh.

It another state is chosen the mental link will not be there.

It wasn't 'ruining an airport'.

It was blowing up the fuel pipeline and fuel depots. It was blowing up JFK and the 40 miles of pipelines that go right through Queens.... all the way to Newark Airport (I THINK it's Newark).

This would have had huge fatalities.

This would have had a huge infrastructure hit - JFK, Newark, Jersey Turnpike, Garden State Parkway, and everything inbetween.

This isn't fear mongering. It's very serious.

Newark is far, far away. I can't imagine even these idiots would think they could explode something like 30 miles away (a lot of which is underwater) just through a pipeline. Of course never underestimate some people's ability to be dumb.

As real as this is, let's not forget that we run the risk of having our leaders hype this and other events like it to justify more of what they already plan on doing to us. By the time we the '08 primaries roll around, the media will have reported on enough of these instances 'encourage' the candidates to one-up each other in terms of who will do the most to protect us. Like it or not, trans-national terrorism has come to America. It will test our mettle as a nation, and our character as a people. Our challnege is two fold. You can go back atleast four years on ATS to see that a lot of people have seen this coming.

Now that its here, we've got to deal with it. Our leaders gain too much from this unfortunate turn of events while we suffer. If we don't aspire to higher ideals and standards of conduct on our own, we will not survive. "They" won't save us. That task falls to us. If we don't have the unity of purpose it takes to get the job done, it'll be our own fault.

To me it seems strange that within days of the news saying that Speaker's father-in-law works for the CDC with TB, that we uncover a terror plot. I have only heard bits about Speaker since. Anyone else find this to be a coincidence? Maybe trying to cover something up that wasn't supposed to get out?

It will not surprise me to learn that "Dad" ratted him out because Andy was a horny jerk.

speaking for myself, I am on record for the last year as having said that these terror busts will only become more common as our leaders urge us to be eve more afraid, so they can save us.

Justin you just got my away about vote for this month but is not button for it.

The government indoctrination of fear and robbing the population of its liberties in the name of security and safety is nothing more than one agenda from this administration to be followed by the next administration.

My thoughs are that our good men that help protect America are doing a good job, and i hope they continue to do a good job.


However, these are the littleb guys, i don't think that these are Al-Quida masterminds.

So let's see.... a plot to blow up a major jet fuel line was discovered and thwarted by the FBI. Something we should be grateful for, if not happy.

But to some here, it just has to be another case of the government hyping themselves so that we live in fear so that they can save us. And, of course, it's going to come at the cost of our liberty.

Hell, some have been saying that for years! They are the ones who really know what's going on, they are the ones you should listen to.

It can't just be an example of good police work.

Why the gov't "they" want to save us, why "they" want to control us, is still not clear yet. We don't even know exactly who they are, either, except that they belong to some shadowy secret groups of unbelievably wealthy and powerful people.

People so powerful and wealthy that they play with our lives out of sheer boredom.

Only the truly enlightened can understand this, though.

Me, I'm just glad that another group of scumbags is off the streets.

In and of itself it is a fantastic piece of police work. How-ever, we should expect to see politicians at the Federal level use the many instances of good police work that will take place this year...to justify...the need for more legislation...that will...enhance their power, while at the same time...chipping away at your civil liberties.

Don't believe me? That's quite alright. Tune in to your favorite news and....wait for it...watch as the reporters ask, "what more can be done to stop things like this?" Then, listen to the political answer. "With greater empahsis on law enforcement and improved legislation, we can clamp down on these things but I'm not sure we can stop them all."
