One of the three herds of cattle under quarantine for links to the diseased Holstein is to be destroyed. Officials explain that the reason for the
cattle destruction is because they cannot determine which of the one-month old calves belong to the infected cow. While officials do not believe that
the infected cow inherited the disease they cannot rule out the transmission from mother to offspring.
The herd will be destroyed at an undisclosed location that is currently not being used. The meat of the slaughtered herd will not enter the food
supply or be used for animal feed.
