Is it too much to ask for a spell check button? it would be alot eaier instead of editing my post 5 times, and there would be alot less mistakes.
PLEASE MODERATORS can you help us with spell check???

You might want to try downloading a free piece of software called "ieSpell"
ieSpell
It works very well in all text box type applications within Internet Explorer.

Mozilla comes with a spell check. It's American English though. If you're a Brit or Canuck you'll get spelling errors even though it looks right.

When this was brought up before the answer was no, because it would put too big of a load on the server.
You could always write up your posts in Microsoft Word then copy them on ATS.

Yes there is. Use Mozilla as a browser, it has spell check or copy your text from MS Word to the site. Word also has a spell check.

Yes, you can use the plugin for Firefox or the one for IE as people pointed out. You could used Word, Google Docs, or even Outlook.
You could even get a dictionary and practice spelling.
All of these are options and won't cause additional load to the ATS servers. The spell check option puts a huge strain on things and would slow the
forums down considerably.

Hmm, I don't think people want to bother spelling things right. In fact misspelling is a common troll method to provoke someone into flaming you.
For instance, you have 'Writer' above your Avatar yet you have four misspellings, and about five grammatical errors. (not flaming, just
illustrating).

Envisioned ... yet, you were obviously able to understand and comprehend their post. (?)
... despite the non-native language barrier. (?)
We have a Global membership on ATS, and Not everyone's native language is English ... to include issues regarding format and structure. I would like
to believe that All members do their best to put forth their ideals, opinions, and concerns as best they can ... to the best of their ability.
All "TXT TALK" aside ... I see a spellchecker as being a null issue, especially due to the multinational, multilingual nature of the ATS
Community/Membership. (?)

I WANT ATS to create an artificial intelligence algorithm to read all the posts and reply with what I would say without me having to do it.
It'd free up a lot of time for me!

You can install the GB English dictionary from Thunderbird in Fx and it should allow checking in British English.

Fire fox works great for me.. if you butcher a word though it won't come up with a replacement lol.
I use Microsoft Word for most of my longer threads.

I think I counted at least 12 solutions to your problem, and several times you've been informed that it is not feasible to have this implemented on
ATS. For one, it would slow the board down which is certainly a big no no. And secondly, this is a multinational board. Rules for spelling and
grammar differ throughout. How can we enforce one blanket rule?
You don't like Mozilla, ignoring the plug ins for IE, too lazy for Word, but still persistent on the issue and willing to make a donation?
I think you under estimate the costs incurred by our owners.
Several free solutions here that will not slow our board down or infringe on other members. I recommend you make use of one of them.

Also, spellcheck isn't perfect.
It'll leave "there" when the proper word is "their", or "were" when
"where" should be used.
Seems trivial I know, but improper grammar is a pet peeve of mine.

Lex

Do you know how much work goes into running ATS? A LOT. I don't think it's asking too much for you to put a little effort into this as it's
something YOU want.

This would be most helpful! I second this motion. I used an extention for my spell check but now i use internet explorer without any spell check.
