star award system

How come someone can be here for two weeks, create a few threads with minimal posts, yet have 4 or 5 stars?

I've made about 30 threads, and received over a thousand replies, and made about 350 posts in my time here. But I've got no stars?

What gives? Is it because my threads are crap? Can you award them to yourself?

im pretty sure you can get yourself stars... this is probably what a lot of new members are doing to get their rep up

Nope, you can't give yourself stars.

Unless of course you make another account to award yourself stars. But if someone is doing that I'd just leave them be. They are sad enough.
