Iran says they've uncovered a western spy network.

The statement gave few details, saying more would be published in the next few days.
Iran has often accused the United States and Britain, which led the invasion of Iraq, of trying to undermine the security of the Islamic Republic. The
ministry's statement did not refer to either country by name. (visit the link for the full news article)

So this seems worth keeping an eye on. Spy networks aren't supposed to be uncovered, but when they are, it can get interesting. Looking forward to
more developements. Please feel free to add.

Normally I don't pay a lot of attention to what Iran says, considering it's either propaganda
or outright lies most of the time, but it would'nt really surprise me if they are telling the truth about this.
I mean most countries have spies in most other countries, especially the U.S.,
so it's hardly unbelievable that the one in Iran could have been compromised.
Personally I could care less, as I disapprove of direct spy methods.
As for anyone Iran may capture, well they would actually be able to make themselves look
good if they just gave them back to their host countries.

In recent days they have arrested Iranians of dual US nationality, most working as university lecturers.
Hardly likely professions for spies. Real spies wouldn't draw attention to themselves by having something so obvious as dual US citizenship.
This is a campaign of persecution of those who stand out as different. It is not a genuine round up of spies.
This is just Iran's equivalent of McCarthyism in USA. Not worth the headlines which of course is what Iran wants everyone to notice most.

Well...
Bush sanctions 'black ops' against Iran
President George W Bush has given the CIA approval to launch covert "black" operations to achieve regime change in Iran, intelligence sources
have revealed.
ush has signed an official document endorsing CIA plans for a propaganda and disinformation campaign intended to destabilise, and eventually topple,
the theocratic rule of the mullahs.
Under the plan, pressure will be brought to bear on the Iranian economy by manipulating the country's currency and international financial
transactions.
Why does that come as a surprise?
