Supposedly the Syrians are backing the Fatah that is in Lebanon fighting the Lebanese troops. I thought Hamas was supported by Iran and Syria so why are they fighting Fatah who is also supported by Syria but fighting the Pro-US Sinora Government of Lebanon?

I don't think it can be as simple as just defining the organisations into either just 'Hamas' or 'Fatah' as those names disguise the various factions within each entity...for instance, there are several groups within Fatah alone:
Quwwat Al-Sa'eqa, Black September (operated mainly in the 1970s), Hawari Special Operations Group, Tanzim, Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, Abu Reish Brigades, Fatah Hawks, and Force 17 seemingly each with their own internal political agenda.

All we ever hear are the names of the two main groups.

Good point. I guess thats also part of the reason why its hard to negotiate with them and for them to keeps deals because of so many factions even within a relatively small group. It makes it hard to tell if everyone is on the same page or if everyone will really agree to anything.

"Hamas and Fatah Killing each other"

Wonderful news and how sweet it is.
Allah be with them as they blow each other up.
Both are doing NOTHING for their people and the Palestinian cause, NOTHING! Good riddance if they decide to eradicate each other.

The political and social situation in the occupied territories has reached the point of social meltdown, and some praise the fact that these people are killing each other daily for a few scraps of food, water and a chance of political determination...ask yourself this; if all your creature comforts and luxuries of food, water, right-to-roam etc were curtailed in your city, how would you adapt to life? would you happily sit back and accept hours/days/weeks of imposed curfew? or would you want to take more direct action?
