Ah,
The images were still showing up for me because they were saved on my system. Hitting ctrl+r revealed that the images are indeed gone. They must have
been deleted by accident or SO is changing them.

I've noticed that the "thread" button appears in posts on bts as well now. Very nice Now it's easier to find all posts by certain members in
long bts threads.

It's very clear to me now that most of the people are not using the star system the way it was intended.

The Star Rating System for posts has been refined (so far, on ATS-only).
Now, all members have 1 star to award any given post (in eligible forums). The stars displayed for each post simply indicate the number of Star-votes
the post has received.
If a moderator "stars" a thread, two stars will appear. If a Super-mod or Admin stars a post, three stars will be applied.
The existing posts with votes are showing the quantity of star votes that have been received (each previous vote has counted as one-star, regardless
if it was a 1-star or 5-star vote).
This should go a long way toward solving the issues many of our members observed with potential abuse of the star ranking system.
The star display in mini-profiles will also be refined soon.

You guys shouldn't have changed your avatars. i liked the av you had that looked like one of the Incredibles. Now you look like a Charles Schwab
commercial.
Probably don't need 2 cents, but there you have it anyway.

I like this idea better than the five stars, this will be cumulative.
But I still don't see why the need to put stars under the profiles, I think the bars are doing a great job alone.

So any half baked post that has been starred by the posters clique will add into the mix. At least before you had an idea of how valid the poster's
contribution was to the community as a whole. It's now become as a system, completely worthless.

What you mean that I can click to my own post and add the star to it?
I though that the one star means cumulative If I want to give it a star good but it will not have a five star per post.
How can this be bad.

Because it only tells half the story. Only those who agree with the poster now get counted. As an average, you get a reflection of the validity of the
post to the community as a whole. Now it is cumulative, you only get one side of the story.

The five star was doing the same and worst people were taking some of the stars just because they didn't like the post.
That was not fair. I think the cumulative will encourage voting, you vote for what you see is worthy.
At least you can not take the stars away.
And occurs some may find a way to abuse it we are only humans.

Well, now the stars have disappeared from the mini-profile. That'll teach me not to say something about a work in progress. [Well, it might].

Great to see the star system updated.
I was getting a lot of one stars where I feel was unnecessary .
Hope to see further improvements along the way (and so far have been).
Cheers .

So this is more or less a binary voting system? a yes/no vote...
Like give a star for approval, or not give a star for disapproval?
Sounds better than the original system. Time will tell......

The new star system seems to be a great improvement. However, as has been stated, this system only allows for positive feedback. What about some form
of negative feedback that can run in conjunction with the stars?
By comparing the positive (stars) with the negative (?crosses) you would have a more accurate reflection of how the post has been received.
lots of stars = well received post
lots of crosses = poorly received post.
no feedback = neutral

Now it's just going to be a popularity thing. People will hit the 'star' when someone posts something they agree with. You'll see a pile of
stars on whatever the 'in' way to think is ... and those who buck the prevailing thought process at ATS will have few or none.
My opinion - not that anyone cares - just DUMP the damn stars.

Yep
My apologies to the management here ... but this star thing is just silly.
Go back to a WATS style thing. People will use their vote only when it is something really special and when a post stands out. Instead of using
their 'star vote' every time they see someone who agrees with them.

You've quoted me out of context there. When I typed that, the stars were still appearing in the mini-profile, and some people had loads. That was
what I thought was worthless.
That is why I said I shouldn't comment on a work in progress.
Now they're gone, and I believe that this system is decent. One member one vote, we cant vote for ourselves, and it shows at a glance how many people
found a particular post to be of value.
