British Airways flight 223 to Washington DC - which was cancelled two days running amid mounting security concerns for its safety - has safely arrived
in the US capital.
The scheduled 1505 (GMT) departure on Saturday was delayed while all 225 passengers were searched, checked and escorted onto the plane one at a time.
It is unclear right now what prompted the searches. It departed a little over 3 hours late and landed at Dulles International just after 0210 (GMT) on
It had been feared terrorists posed a "specific threat" against the flight. It remains unclear where the information was obtained from, however
sources tell us that credible threat information was obtained from British Security services monitoring mosque communications out of England.
A British Airways spokesman had this to say: "the plane had been delayed due to a request from the security authorities in the US to supply them with
information about the flight."
