US Immigration Sedates Two Foreigners Against Will

newsinfo.inquirer.net

LOS ANGELES -- Two foreign nationals were sedated against their will by US immigration authorities during attempts to deport them, it was reported here Wednesday.

A lawyer working for human rights group the American Civil Liberties Union who represents the two men described the incidents as "horrifying."

"It's blatantly illegal," Ahilan Arulanantham told the Times. "You cannot inject people with psychotropic drugs if they are not mentally ill."

I don't what to say on this case. Not so much details on the news and US Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials have not given any comments on the incident.

But I wonder if what was allegedly done to the 2 foreigners is a standard operation procedure.

I hardly think that the men were arbitrarily sedated; there must be more to this story.

My guess is that the men were about to be deported and, realizing their fate, became uncooperative and unruly.

Perhaps instead of sedating them, they should have been TASE'd and shackled.
