The first votes were cast in Saint Pierre and Miquelon off eastern Canada - but voting in mainland France will be on Sunday.

Especially with comments like this:

"It is my responsibility today to alert people to the risk of [his] candidature with regards to the violence and brutality that would be unleashed in the country," she said.

I wonder if difficult times will be ahead for France if Sarkozy wins?

Difficult times ahead which ever way it goes.

Something tells me the French could be back at the poles very soon, I don't think it will be a clear win today.

Interesting times in French politics that's for sure.

Royal said on Friday she thinks there will be riots if Sarkozy wins...pretty dirty politics!

I think Sarkozy will win hands down. France is already socialist enough, it needs to become more competitive on the world market, not less, if it hopes to maintain itself.

There won't be any official numbers for about 2 hours, but from the leaked info, it looks like Sarkozy will win easily.

Not much of a surprise.
