Barack advocates freeing debates

Dear Chairman Dean:
I am writing in strong support of a letter from a bipartisan coalition of academics, bloggers and Internet activists recently addressed to you and the Democratic National Committee. The letter asks that the video from any Democratic Presidential debate be available freely after the debate, by either placing the video in the public domain, or licensing it under a Creative Commons (Attribution) license.

I typically find Obama to be rather vacuous, but this is a very good thing. Everyone should be able to access these debates freely on the Internet.

Now, this doesn't guarantee that I will vote for the guy (I'm still holding out for a Libertarian candidate, but even they don't have a guaranteed vote from me), but I do applaud him. If he does more things like this, I might vote for him in the primaries, but most likely not in the general elections.

I agree, I think it's a no-brainer.

Press agencies use footage from each other all the time, is that just fair use or a cooperative agreement amongst just themselves?
