Can you explain to us why people from the Yazidi religion would follow Sharia Law?

I will be looking forward to hearing your answer.

Seldom have I seen a thread more derailed and confusing concepts more than this.

Eventualy this misdeed by NON-Muslims have lead to retaliation from Muslims.

Retaliation when it came was savage. On 23 April a bus carrying back workers from a weaving factory in Mosul to Bashika, which has a Christian as well as a Yazidi population, was stopped by several cars filled with unidentified gunmen at about 2pm. They asked the Christians to get off the bus, according to the police account. They then took the bus to eastern Mosul city where they lined up the men, mostly elderly, against a wall and shot them to death.

Please visit the link provided for the complete story.

You may ask why it took two weeks for this news to emerge. I've no idea, but at least now you have something to hang your islamophobia on.

It is sad that some people in their mindset and perception are centuries behind others, but for the fair share let me just remind you of the crusades and the inquisition.

BTW, I've started a thread on the retaliation incident.

But such acts have got to stop..

Can you read and write in Farsi or Urdu or whatever local dialect they use?

If not you probably have very little chance of finding it, because you would be putting it into a search engine properly, would you?

Anyway - if you type "muslims against stoning" into Google - something you obviously haven't done - you will find at the bottom of the first page a cached blogger article relating to a news item that says that this stoning WAS protested against, by people from all across the region. The URL is here

Cached Link

I'm not defending this action in any way shape or form by the way. I'm simply trying to do what this site does, which is to deny ignorance.

Its easy to say "why is no one protesting this" - but if you don't even try to look for it, and are incapable of speaking the languages of the region, its going to be hard to find it. Not everyone speaks english.

Oh yes, as Messiah keeps pointing out and you don't appear to be listening to - the people that did this were not muslims

Murder occurs in all faiths. Islam does not allow this practice, and Muhammad himself preached against it. What you have are people who follow cultural laws over religious, or find a way to incorporate their cultural law into religious and claim its all from their religion.

It was the kurds (yazidies) doing the stoning - they saw it as a crime that she was `seeing` an iragi muslim boy so killed her out of honour for there family.

btw you do know that saddam gased them for crimes against muslims don`t you?

they were comitting terrorist acts and that was the retailiation.... oh how the present situation in iraq is so diffrent

Yazidi is a branch of Islam, is it not? In order to be a "good" Muslim, one must practice Sharia Law and believe in its cause.

Well Actually

Zedi, or Izdi, religious sect, found primarily in the districts of Mosul, Iraq; Diyarbakir, Tur.; Aleppo, Syria; Armenia and the Caucasus region; and in parts of Iran. The Yazidi religion is a syncretic combination of Zoroastrian, Manichaean, Jewish, Nestorian Christian, and Islamic elements. The Yazidi themselves are thought to be descended from supporters of the Umayyad caliph Yazid I. They…
Yazidi

I guess if you want to be technical, it doesn't exclusively fall under the title of Islam. It's just every time I see acts like this committed in the "name of religion," Islam is the first one I think of. Sorry, that's just the way it is.

Regardless, the ultimate goal of most of the Clerics I have heard, is to spread Sharia law, so, my comment is not false in no sense of the word.

I will say this.... I fell into the trap of ASSUMING that Yazidis were exclusively Muslim; they are not, at least not exclusively. Poor reearch on my part.

However, my statements still stand because I don't feel the way I do just based upon one single solitary event, but from a multitude of events that people from that side of the world that practice the religion of Islam have done.

It existed before Islam, so I would say no.

And Sharia Law is different everywhere. Your statement is similar to saying, "In order to be a good citizen, one must practice the State's laws and believe in its cause." Just as every state/country has a different law, so does countries with Sharia.

It's just every time I see acts like this committed in the "name of religion," Islam is the first one I think of. Sorry, that's just the way it is.

That's called a stereotype.

You know, there are crimes committed all over the world. However, what makes this one particularly brutal is because it was done simply because a girl had a boyfriend hat her "family" disapproved of and her "family" decided that God ordained for her to be murdered.

They can call this an "honor" killing if they want. I see no honor in it.

How many of you actually watched a clear video of this? I am not talking about a video where all you can see is a blur of colors. I am talking about actually watched a clear video of this killing. I did, and I must say that it made me angry.

For a group of people to gain up on an innocent girl, and she was innocent regardless of what anyone wants to say, is deplorable. We are living in a sick world folks. Our time is short.

Sorry, but does this deserve its own thread? No. As much as i sympathise for the girl, these things happen on a daily basis.

This thread is just another place for people to come and shout how barbaric Islam is, and throwing in the line about how they are "the religion of peace". Get over yourselves, do i really need to list the crimes that the USA and UK have commited in the last 200 years?

How about you spare a thought for all the children starving to death in Africa at this very moment, due to the exploitation of the West? Oh wait, thats just "sad", and only deserves a mention once a year during Red Nose day or some equivilient BS parade.

This thread is nothing more than an attempt to have a jab at the way other people function, in this case, people of Islam.

Do something useful instead of just spreading more hate, jesus!

These are the people who are taking away our freedom. They are affecting the whole world. Unforntunately, this happens all the time, all over the world. May not exactly like that, or in the same context, but it is probably happening as I type this. People treating others horrendously. I mean, take a look at N Korea. Those people are suffering badly too. And Africa. And even, here in the US. It's all over the world folks. Now, the question is, what are WE going to do about it. Unfortunately, we don't all think or believe the same things. This is the fundemental breakdown of humanity. No teamwork. Let's work together.

Exactly. But the point i made was that, why should this deserve a thread over all the other things that happen on a daily basis? Ask yourself why the OP posted it in the first place, given all the other bashing Islam threads that have popped up on just about every forum over the past year or so..

Shrunkensimon, why hide the misdeeds of practitioners of a faith? To talk about how "EEEEEVIL" America is and not mention the fact that these people are barbaric is rather hypocritical in my opinion.

Who said anything about trying to hide it? Im not saying what they did wasnt wrong, because any human being should feel empathy for the girl, who was only doing what she did because she felt love.

Indeed, what they did was terribly wrong, but that doesn't mean it deserves its own thread where people can just take pot shots at Islam and Muslims in general.

Go back before 2001 and you would be hard pressed to find any thread of this kind...now, what does that tell you

These threads are nothing more than attempts to spread hate and anger at others, which benefits no one but those who seek to spread the hate, ie, the Zionists.

Its not that difficult to figure out who benefits from this!

Not trying to pick on you Shrunkensimon but based on a rebuttal you post ( as mirrored by some others on here ) has key points of reference.

This particular 'thing' does not happen in North America ( Quite sure UK included ) on a daily basis. In that respect, good or bad threads get started for that reason.

This thread is just another place for people to come and shout how barbaric Islam is, and throwing in the line about how they are "the religion of peace". Get over yourselves, do i really need to list the crimes that the USA and UK have committed in the last 200 years?

I didn't really get that impression from the OP. Genuinely upset was what I interpreted it as.
I might also point out that Islam is alive and well in NA & UK..... I haven't seen anything about 'Honor Stonings' in Canada or the US. ( I don't get out much though.)

How about you spare a thought for all the children starving to death in Africa at this very moment, due to the exploitation of the West? Oh wait, thats just "sad", and only deserves a mention once a year during Red Nose day or some equivalent BS parade.

I hear and read about this pretty much everyday, via news, news channels, commercials, etc.

This thread is nothing more than an attempt to have a jab at the way other people function, in this case, people of Islam.

As I mentioned above, I don't feel the OP originally started the thread for those reasons(IMO, of course). Some others may have chimed in and sent that message, but that is apparent in most threads of any nature, regardless of the topic.

And I also don't believe all or even most of the Islamic people in the WORLD 'function' this way. The people in the video are 'killing for fun' and hiding it under 'Cultural justice'... nothing more.

Do something useful instead of just spreading more hate, jesus!

'Spreading more hate' & ' Jesus' in the same sentence may be offensive to some as they may take it as a 'jab' against Christianity.

Look, different cultures deal with things in different ways. Whats normal to us, is wacky and crazy to another culture, and vica versa. Ive already said that what they did was wrong, and it is sad that people still have to resort to this kind of barbaric behaviour..

But as much as it is sad, it does NOT require its own thread. Let me use a little analogy here..

We all know about the Holocaust in Nazi Germany.. we have memorial days every year, its forced down our throats so that we never forget.. yet, where is the memorial for all the other holocausts that have taken place, ones where the numbers of people killed are more than double that of the Nazi Holocaust. How about all the people killed in the Russian Holocaust?..

Im not accusing the OP by the way, it would be wrong for me to do so, since i know nothing about them, or their history.

But these threads pop up in just about every forum across the web, trying to foster the idea that Islam is a perverted religion etc.

Heres two quotes from page 6 of this thread;

"They have a very undeveloped mind, the bible talks about people that were stoned to death, and that's thousands of years ago, but still after many, many generations these people haven't civilized yet. What a shame, what shame. Talk about slow evolution."

and

"You know, I have tried to be civil about this; I have tried to be fair; but, I am sorry, these people are just sick. They have an illness that there is no cure for.

The inevitable is coming for them though, sooner or later."

You see, its the "us vs them" mentality. They are "beyond help", and we must get rid of them, because they are a cancer etc..

Its threads like these that help to foster that idea, to foster the islamophobia.

Im not sure what else to say to get my point across..

Most of the anti-Islam posts were made on ignorance, and I say this because those who posted something against Islam in this thread didn't even bother to understand that it was a Muslim woman who was stoned, by people of another faith, because she converted to Islam and dated a Muslim boy.
