Since apparently the World Bank isn't a good source of ecenomic growth, and probably has a bias in favor of Huga Chavez.

Every oil producing country like Venezuela that has been gouging people around the world with their over priced oil has raked in billions every day.

Naturally Venezuela has great economic growth for now, but like any pirate the greed Hugo Chavez has shown by confiscating private property will come back and bite those who voted him in. Once the party is over and there is nothing else to steal the people of Venezuela will be stuck with the bill

Hugo Chavez purchased a bunch of F16s from the USA. Mr Bush played with him by stopping the export of spare parts (something to do with trying to force him to end the oil worker strike).

Chavez basically said it's black mail (which it was) and said he will sell the F16s to China and purchase Migs. As far as I know that's where it started. Then we go onto Chavez's comments at the UN and the later which he said the CIA was attempting to promote and support a coup to overthrow him.
Now he's a dictator and years behind the NK & Iran type threats.

Why America hate Chavez....

I can't speak for a whole country, but I can speak for myself.

#1 - Allegations of electoral fraud and abuse
Boy, this doesn't sound familiar at all! Would Bush be willing to submit to an honest and fair recall vote like Chavez was? No, because without his election fraud in both Ohio and Florida, he wouldn't be President today.

#2 - Authoritarian rule and power consolidation
Patriot act anyone? Not to mention the suspension of habeas corpus and Bush's ability to ignore posse comitatus. We could also get into the whole illegal wiretapping, firing of the attorney's, and all the other completely unethical things our current administration has done in an unpresedented power grab.

The 1st through the 4th point you made in numerical order are not points but excuses. I do not like it when the nation I live in does these things as well as any other nation that oppresses it's people. Saying that the US is guilty of the same things is conceding that Chavez is a lying crook.

Basically... Chavez is a lying crook, and so is much of the US government. Neither are right.

For you guys defending Chavez in this post, why don't you move to Venezuela if it is as wonderful as you say?? You are full of s_it...

Over 100,000 people have been killed during Chavez regime by gun shots in Venezuela. Most by crime and many by his armed gangs of alcoholics shooting whoever opposes to his regime.

I invite you to visit Caracas, Venezuela and witness how people are living in cardboard boxes by the river...

I don't hate Chavez. A poor farm worker who somehow came into power for his people. Who knows the US politico for what they are.

He even offered cheaper gas to the NE when fuel prices were surging.

Doesn't sound like a man to hate to me.

I have just watched the documentary 'The Revolution Will Not Be Televised', and at the end I cryed. A man who loves his people so much as to give himself up to save them, and a man who gained his peoples' love and respect by telling the truth and helping all of them. My heart aches for such a man to represent me in the government. We see only what the powers that be want us to see. We are imprisoned in our own country, a country that says it is free. The only people that are truly free are the few that control the money we use. Our own government has censored us and blocked our view of the truth. Today I am a sad man, to think that a country so close to us can have freedom while we have false freedom from our false prophets.

Tell me when will we begin to make our country as it was meant to be?

When will we truly be free?

When will we stand up and say this is enough, we want freedom?

When will we become United?

We are supposedly the United States Of America, the land of the free and the home of the brave; When will we deserve that title once again?

I have just read through most of the posts from 2007. It seems that most nay-sayers have been proven wrong. Some people dislike change, and that is the only reason that I see for some locals to represent the other side. When there is a change in government, there are sometimes casualties. This time it was the top crust. Now there is prosperity for al,l not some. I have looked into communism and have seen that when it comes to the people, it is the perfect type of government. Unfortunately people are not perfect so it has never really worked, as far as we know. This visionary Hugo Chavez may be the first to be able to pull it off correctly. Let us all hope that he does not become consumed by power. The corruption that power brings has been the folly of all attempts of communism in the past. Let us hope that a mere man can withstand the temptation that every other country has given into, even mine, the United States of America.
Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely, only a uncorruptable man can save the world.

So what you are saying is because Hugo Chavez acts like George Bush, he must be a good man. That does not make any sense to me. You condemn George Bush for the same policies that you praise Hugo Chavez for.

He's trying to give his country back to his people much like Omar Torrijos tried to get the Panama canal back for his people during the Carter Administration. Torrijos was subsequently killed in a plane crash during the Reagan administration.

Read Confessions of an Economic Hitman by John Perkins. it is a fascinating book dealing with our involvement in central and southern American governments as well as Middle Eastern.

Yes, pretty much. And that's why our government / media don't like him. I watched "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised" also, and it says everything opposite of what TKainZero said. TKainZero what is your source for that info?

Ok ! Are you being serious here? My goodness! Last time I looked you had the "freedom" to make that post! You my friend are not looking for a leader to lead in a free country, you are looking for a "puppet master" to pull your strings!!

now to quote what you said about a man: " A man who loves his people so much as to give himself up to save them, and a man who gained his peoples respect by telling them the truth and helping all of them"

I'm confused, was this a movie about a revolution or "Passion of the Christ"?

To all posters who are deluded into Hugo Chavez being sweet and innocent
this is for you.

I would wager that if you played the word association game, the first word that would come to most people's mind if you mention Hugo Chavez is CLOWN.
Personally, I don't think he is a threat to the United States, but his position is a threat to the people of Venezuela. His empty rhetoric gives people hope, with no real plan to deliver on any major promises. His attempt to be a player in the international scene is laughable, at best. Although countries like Russia humor him, behind his back, I'm sure they're laughing their heads off about his antics and rhetoric.

For those that don't believe me, here's a video of Chavez the Clown:

I assure you, i tell you the truth on Chavez... or at least the closest thing to the truth that is out there...

Just because the Media does not cover it... that does not mean that it does not happen...
