U2U button doesn't flash?

The Member Center button has been replaced by the U2U's button. However, the button doesn't flash upon receipt of a new u2u; at least mine doesn't seem to. It's just a solid red with white lettering.

Is this feature going to be brought back? It was handy to glance at the button to see if any new u2u's had arrived.

Seems to me if it's red you have a message. If not red then you don't have a message.

I'm so glad that flashing stopped, it was beating me down every time I refreshed a page.

At least now it shows in red that I have a message waiting, but it stays as "member center" when there is nothing there.

That blinking thing was like a nagging wife that demanded attention.

Mine is Red all the time. I liked it when i had a message and it flashed, that way I could tell if i had a message or not.

Call me silly, but i do like it to flash.

Every since the New Board Code Update (I think thats when) the toolbar was fitted with some new buttons and it switched from the flashing u2u button to the one that says "u2u's" without flashing.

Can't you tell if you have a message by looking and seeing if it says "u2u's"?

If you don't have any u2u's it will just say "Member Center"

I prefer the flashing button, but I noticed today, that it only changes back to member center if you delete the most recent U2U.

I think there is a glitch.

It is a glitch, but only with certain U2Us. There is one member that no matter how many times I read his U2U it still shows me as having a new U2U until I save or delete it. Everyone else it goes back to member center after I read the U2U.

Yeah, since the new board code was implemented, the u2u button no longer flashes.



Personally, I like it. The flashing one was good, and so is this one, but I'm content either way. Before Dark Matter was implemented, the number of u2u's was shown. It would say two, three, four, or five new u2u's and it was like Christmas morning when that was flashing on my screen. Childish really, but aren't we all children at heart?

If I had to choose, I'd take this one over the flashing one.

Well, after playing with it some more, it seems like it won't revert to Member Center until you save or delete recent messages. Just as Zaphod58 and others said.

There are times with certain members, as zaph said, or the Admin u2u's, that they will not mark themselves as Read. A part of this is due to the fact if the u2u has been sent to more than one person. If someone sends you and I a u2u, and I have read it but you have not, it will still be marked as unread for me, until you have read it too.

That explains some of it.

Works totally normal for me. And I like how it looks.

I especially love coming online to see that I have U2Us. As the page loads, who knows what the message will be about? Did I get an Applause? Is someone offering me free money? Free chairs? Does someone want to fight me about something I said? Something they thought I was hinting at but at the time of posting I had no idea I was making a reference too in the post?

It's all great fun.

Me to, because U2U's should be responded to PROMPTLY its the genuine courteous thing to do. I respond to my U2U's the second I see the flashing..

Without the flashing someone as scattered brained as me won't see it and forget it entirely.

In short some guys need that nagging wife button or things just won't get done.

By the way I don't like how ATS is getting rid of colors, effects and other sorta things (like the views collumn..) and pages have been slower to load since the tinkering with the code.

Why take the blinking away??? *cries*

I keep waiting for the you to me message, so I can send a me to you message in response...

I even tried sending a me to me, but I got no answer

Can you really send a U2U to more than one person?

Only the Staff can send mass u2u's.

I send mass u2u's all the time. Maybe its just you enjoies?
