A New Year's Eve celebration in the town of Pereulak was cut short when a bomb exploded before midnight. Ten people are confirmed dead and more than
30 injured, most of the victims teenagers and children.
Rebel group Free Aceh Movement (GAM) have denied responsibility for the bombing. Aceh has been under martial law since 5/19/03 due to separatists'
violent actions.
Witnesses report the bomb exploding on a concert stage as a band was playing, and a scene of "total panic" as the crowd ran to escape.
Among the dead were a 1 year old baby and a 7 year old boy.
