Potentially habitable planet found

news.yahoo.com

WASHINGTON - For the first time astronomers have discovered a planet outside our solar system that is potentially habitable, with Earth-like temperatures, a find researchers described Tuesday as a big step in the search for "life in the universe."

The planet is just the right size, might have water in liquid form, and in galactic terms is relatively nearby at 120 trillion miles away. But the star it closely orbits, known as a "red dwarf," is much smaller, dimmer and cooler than our sun.

Even though it's habitable, it will serve no use to us. At a distance of 120 trillion miles away, the likelihood of humanity ever seeing it will still be a dream.

The only possible solution I can propose is that if we were able to create space stations headed towards there. Though many generations of humans will live and die on the station, their offspring will have a new home.

nice find there about time a habitable planet was found, now we just need to get some bigger telescopes or other ways to check it out for some habitation
