Never Before Seen Green Lightning, Photos...

What is this green lightning seen in the following images?

[color=lime]The green lightning can be seen in two of the photos. I have never seen green lightning before, but have heard stories and reports of green and red sprites, but these I believe are located in the upper atmosphere and reported by pilots.

FLAG THIS THREAD HERE...

Can it be related to the chemical color effect when a certain chemicals are burned? Or is it related to the green buoy or boat light seen in the harbor?

I stumbled upon the images (google) so I do not have the history of the photos. One thing is this is Sydney Harbor, AUS (correct me if I am wrong).

Well, I am not a lightening expert, but it looks like the green light may have mixed with the natural light from the lightening.

I remember seeing red lightning over Lake Ontario when I was like 5 or 6. It was a pretty frightful storm that thankfully never hit landfall.

I saw many of these types of strikes on the water, from at distance, not that close thankfully.

Really? Its lime green Are you using light or dark ATS?

Luke I am your father muhahaha.

I wish the ATS color options (which is builtin to the menu postings) would revert to standard color if ATS light users....

Don't know what could make lightning green, but I do know that before a lightning storm starts, the sky turns greenish.
It is said that in most cases, before tornados touch down, the sky also gets a greenish haze over it.
Maybe something related?
