What was the real reason for the war in iraq?

Well, for one thing which can be known, the US invaded Iraq because we can defeat them. But as to why deludes me.

The sad thing is that Citizens come to debating why our country did so!

Obviously the Administration did not present a conclusive, sensible reason. They tried to tell us it was pre-emptive, but what threat could so many not see?? WMD?!?! Surely you jest! What was there to be found that they said almost positively existed?

OIL?? Too easy to assume! I would say assume the obvious, but in this case...

I would say all individuals will surely know in some future, some hind-sight. A pre-emptive policy was in the works far before Iraq, even September 11th. That is what deludes me the most.
