al-Qaeda growing more powerful

The events of the last days show that al-Qaeda is growing more and more powerful. It claimed responsibility for the Green Zone bombing inside the Iraqi Parliament and the bombings in Algiers. These attacks justify even stronger tactics in the war on terror than those used now. People get alarmed when apparently ordinary people are added to terrorist watchlists. But only a few days ago a Utah man was arrested for joining al-Qaeda. It is often claimed that al-Qaeda is merely a concept or word that unites jihadists, terrorists etc., but their 'successes' suggests that they are well organized. Imagine the sophistication of the Iraqi Parliament bombing: enlist a person willing to do a suicide attack inside the most secure area in Baghdad, transport explosives into the area and attack. Apparently, the war on terror is only beginning and we must all be on alert.
