I believe that what you are looking at is an auxiliery airfield that was oeprated at Groom Lake before 1955 when the CIA/Lockheed decided to build a
secret base there. There used to be a gunnery target on the lake bed.

I was looking at AREA-51 with Google Earth and I found this. In a way it almost looks like two extra runways, but I think that the terrain is to bad
to be able to land or take of in a plane. So is there someone who knows what it is?
