I am new to this website and am facinated by all of real-life stoires i have read.

I will start by talking about a strange encounter when i was about 7 in my first school playground. Well I live in Whitley Bay and am 14 now but i want to share this story to people because i really dont know what it was.

Ok i was in the play ground of my first school when all of a sudden i see children running to a spot on the concrete, so as a child i run to see whats going on. To my amaziment i saw a long , greenish/grey worm with a strange shaped head, like a hammer head shark. As i turn around i see one of the teachers getting children inside of the school because it was the end of break. Another one of the teachers ran up to the creature and tried to pick it up. it seemed to ooze some strange liquid out of its mouth and that was the last i saw of it because i was told to go inside.

Now at that time i had a good idea of what the animals in this world look like, but this is still in my memory because it was so unusual and wierd.

I would like to here anyones comments or facts that might put a name on this 'worm' because i have no idea.

Thanks, Opulisum

It looks kind of similar but its different colour and had a bigger head, maybe a new species?

I need to know where they live.

Originally from southeast Asia, it usually arrives in the landscape via potted foliage plants. >SNIP<

So far it's been spotted in various states throughout the East, Southeast, South, Pacific Northwest and California.

Apparently it's Latin name is Bipalium kewense as it was discovered in Kew gardens although it is thought to originate in the Indo-Malayan region.

Edited to correct region.

Since it's apparently travelling around via potted foliage plants, I guess it could make its way to the east side of England.

They eat earthworms and not much else. So - it's a pest. Kill 'em.

Is that worm a Annelid? Have not seen that guy before, what does it eat?

I see now it eats earthworms. Learned something new today.

My turn...

Did it look anything like this?

I think it's called a Planarian or "Hammerhead Worm."

It eats worms and travels in plants.

I live near whitley bay (Ashington) and iv seen a few of the worms shown in the pics people have posted.
also worms turn gray when left in water for a long time, might have something to do with it.

Look at this thing. I actually saw this video yesterday or the day before. Never heard of them before. They call it a Parasitic Gordian worm.

It is one nasty looking worm. I wouldn't want one...lol
