Through the page loads and craziness of the Internet, what have you learnt with your time on it?

I'll go first as is customary, I've learnt that no matter how quickly I click the refresh button it won't make a downed site come back online nor will it make someone send me an email to appear in my web based inbox...

Ive learned that some people just take online games WAY to seriously. like all those text based games, some people just spend to much time on them and think they are gods, or they think they are actualy their charector.

Text based games? Where do you find those. Did not think they still exsist!

I learned that webmasters and corporations think they can commit a crime to solve a civil problem.

Quick overview:

To go into someones computer or server and make unauthorized changes is a crime and is punishable by jail or prison time.

To copy a cassette or download a copy of the latest CD is not a crime at all. If you make a profit from that, it is a civil matter and the holders need to file lawsuit.

Now you have every single Network Admin, Webmaster, Publisher etc. breaking in and making changes to prevent everyone from downloading the game, mp3, software etc. They are commiting a crime and know it, but they are good at doing this anonymously.

It's the same princible as breaking in your home and damaging your copy of a Game you got from your friend. No one would dare do that because there would be too many ways they could get caught.

But, hey there is this new anonymous thing called the internet where they can break into your home and not get caught.

Games like mafia battle and what not, those kind of text based games, though I like the old school text based games.

Hmmmmm Mafia battle sounds good!

*Rubbing hands together with an evil eye!*

I love the Simulator games like Gansters II. I love going and planting bombs in everyone cars. For reason I never last in the game doing that though.

I think all Mafia movies are pretty stupid though. I always turn them off in disgust!

I found this cool site called BTS that I like to spend my time on. So far so good. The people are smart and they respect eachother.

You should che..... wait! I'm on it righ now!

What have I learned from internet life.:

I have learned there are a million different views than your own. Especially through the ats here.
I have learned that the internet as well as all electronics can come between time spent with the family if your not careful. You should always make time for one another and turn off the electronics.
I have learned its easier to do banking online than through the old check writing system and sending to snail mail every time. Where it can get lost and never show up anywhere. Leaving you wondering where it went.
I have learned through the news and in general you have to be extra careful online cause someone is always lurking around to steal your information.
I have learned that the internet is a place where most sex offenders hang out at to prey on our children.
I have learned that the internet is a place where these young kids are so ignorant that they post as many current sexy pictures of themselves with their age, location, etc… just telling these perverts I’m here come and get me.
I have learned that the internet is also a place of filth.
I have learned that parents really don’t know what their kids are posting and doing.
I have learned that the internet is a nice place to meet and play online card games. Which I love.
I have learned that the internet is a great news source. A place to get up to date information quickly and accurately. Generally faster than our news on television.
I have learned how easy it is to view what movie is out without having to go out.
I have learned how easy it is to check out a department store that you want to go to. See if they have that sale going on or not.
I have learned how easy it is to get directions. To somewhere you want to go. Just bring up your map type in your location and it gives you the directions.
I have learned how easy it is to check out other countries and how different they are than we are. How we cater to foreigners with jobs and how if you go to South American you will not easily get a job from them according to their laws. And Mexico would rather arrest you and put you in jail or take money from you rather than just leave you alone.
I have learned how easy it is to bring up newspapers from any state and check out what is going on.
I have learned how you can find a home if your going to move before you get there. Or at least get some general ideas first.
I have learned how you can check the weather for any state any time.
I could go on and on. But I have said enough for now.

I have learned from internet life how to read badly misspelled and garbled text.

Also to NEVER, EVER click on any links that explicitly encourage you to do so.

I've learnt that people around the world know less than I initially thought about other parts of the world. Hopefully that will change. Viva ATS

I've learned that the internet is a great way to visit, spend time farting around, pretty good for gathering information, chatting with loved ones and friends, etc.

HOWEVER...

Some of the best times I have with the internet is when I'm NOT online!

I know that sounds whacky, but I like the fact that I have a LIFE apart from being online.

You have to have a balance.

Other than that, there is so much to enjoy online...I just wish I had a faster computer. LOL

I discovered people are more suggestible with computer use than television. And that the suggestibility and need to conform can be exploited by power crazy dimwits who if they aren't consciously plying malicious and toxic messages into a culture, then they must be incredibly stupid.

That is not a referral to ATS, but a generalization of the wasteland.

I have also discovered, it's an excellent source of information, providing you use discernment.

I have learned that there is so much info out there that there's not enough time in the day for one to read it all and what little you can read its difficult to discern the truth from it. In the end you stick to the road that you know that you know. Which leads to something else I have learned. Mind control, thats how it works people stick to the roads that they know and seldom venture out from it.

I learned one very important and scary rule of the internet...

Whatever it is, there IS porn of it, somewhere... XD

Oh the nightmarish things I've seen...

I've learned a couple of things...

1. there is a great community site, where people come share thier, ideas, thoughts, dreams, hardships, etc. A place where a lot of information can be gathered and questions answered. A place where there are more than enough people willing to help, lend an ear or give a word of encouragement and support. Yes ... it's ATS.

2. That you really can find true love online. I did it. Over 9 years ago I met my beautiful wife in a chat room. We talked for hours at a time, then the phone calls and then that special day, the meet in person. ( yes it was in a public place with lots of people around.

oh yeah... one other thing... I've also learned that there are thousand and thousands of beautiful women who will take their clothes off and post pictures online... some ugly ones too.. but wooo hoooo...

I've learnt that there are a lot of people that want attention, and make up stories. I've also learnt that e-love is possible.

I learnt the following:

1: There are people on the internet who, if I am honest, are so bloody STUPID, I am surpised they haven't tried drinking bleach yet...

2: Christians tend to lack a sense of humour.

3: The internet is rife with bigotry, its just like the real world.

4: The internet allows people to be as nasty and rude as they like.

5: Webmasters and moderators run a serious risk of developing a Deity Complex.

6: Some people, particularly teens, mistake internet based messages for those found on a mobile phone, and as a result, tlk lke dis.

7: The Internet provides freedom of exchange of information (wow, I know... a positive point
)

8: You can meet some incredibly cool people on the net that you might not meet in real life.

9: People are gullable.

10: In general, some people shouldn't be allowed to vote (relates to first point).
