No Reply on U.S.-held Iranians in Iraq

abcnews.go.com

Apr 7, 2007 — TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran has still not received a reply to a request to visit five Iranians held by U.S. forces in Iraq, an official at Iran's Baghdad embassy was quoted as saying on Saturday by Iran's ISNA news agency.

Washington accuses Iran of stoking violence in Iraq and in January detained five men it says were linked to Iran's Revolutionary Guards and backing militants. Iran insists they are diplomats, wants them freed and has requested access.

The Iranians claim they are wanting to meet them and make sure they are alright to ease the concerns of their families.

Looking back at the UK captive crisis, did the Iranians not deny UK access to the sailors and marines?

I thought there would be more movement in this situation, maybe the reports of the former FBI agent that went missing is somehow delaying the access to these five.

The red cross though has had access to them so they have been visited.
