Moisture in Peanut Butter Caused Salmonella

OMAHA, Neb. -- ConAgra Foods said Thursday that moisture from a leaky roof and faulty sprinkler was the source of the salmonella bacteria that contaminated peanut butter at its Georgia plant last year, sickening more than 400 people nationwide.

The Omaha-based company conducted a nearly two-month investigation into the contamination and pledged to ensure that Peter Pan peanut butter is safe when it returns to stores in mid-July.

I felt this qualified as breaking news as I'm sure others like myself were affected by this contamination. I like Peter Pan PB. I think it is far superior to all other forms of peanut butter. Especially the creamy variety. I have suffered great loss in the absence of such a wonderful spreadable source of calories.

With so many reported problems with various foods of late, it's nice to know when a real cause and solution is produced.

I'm a Jif fan..
But it could have been Jif, or any other brand.
I'm glad you posted a follow up.

Mass production of things might make them cheaper, and consistent in quality.
But..when one little thing goes wrong..hundreds or thousands of people are affected, in the blink of an eye.

Or Pets, like the whole Wheat Gluten problem with pet foods.
