I love most of the other James Bond Movies, but the new one, Casino Royale, I thought was quite bad... And I can't exactly work out why.

Most reviews said it was wonderful and that it was the best ever...
Anyone else come to the same conclusion as me or am I in a minority?

(Sorry if a similar thread has already been done... Didn't notice one though.)

I can't tell you how many times I have seen all the Bond films, but the new one I thought was awesome. It was my favorite movie of 2006.

I'd say you are. Most of the people I've talked to about it feel that it was the best Bond flick ever.

I blogged about it here: blog.abovetopsecret.com...

I saw it in the theatre and the whole time at the beginning I was comparing it to Goldfinger and thinking "this is awesome" in the back of my mind. I decided I would see how I felt later.

Toward the end of the movie I was still thinking it was a good as Goldfinger or perhaps better. I honestly thought it was one of the best.

On my blog post...read item #1. You can't argue with it.

Goldfinger was always my favorite Bond flick. I always tried to like Brosnan as Bond, but the only one he did that I half way enjoyed was Goldeneye. The few after that turned into more special effects than anything. Few flashy moments, little bit of eye candy, but a very weak plot each and every time. I thought Casino Royale brought back the 007 series to respectability and offered a great plot. The insight into Bond's thoughts and background was great. Rather than being this "shell" that he has been for so long, we finally began to see how this was affecting him.

I just checked it out a few days ago for the first time, and I have to say that I really enjoyed it. Doesn't top Goldfinger, but it is certainly the best one to come along in quite awhile. Next to Connery, I think Craig is the best Bond to date. Which really surprises me because I was a little let down when I first heard that he was taken over the reigns.

Thought he did a bang up job.

I haven't seen the new "Bond" movie because to be honest, I didn't like the other ones.

Personally, I thought it was one of the best Bond films yet.

Officially, Sean Connery will always be "The Bond", but personally, I thought Roger Moore was better, funnier, more charismatic. I've hated every Bond since Moore up until now, because they were basically just worse and worse soap opera stars given progressively crappier scripts.

Casino Royale brought a new face to Bond... Bond Redux, if you will. It was like someone took away all the cheesey gimmicky villains, all the ridiculous gadgets, and all the suavity that comes from decades of getting laid by hot villainesses, and instead gets right to the core of what Bond is...or was...one bad mofo killing machine that thwarts convention and rules to get the job done.

He wasn't suave, he wasn't charismatic, and the only gadgets I even remember him using were fairly believable ordinary stuff. But man could he kill himself some bad guys.

Definitely the best ever but not one of my favorites. I'll always be partial to Connery's Bond.
