and while id love to debate you on this one borg, i would personally rather debate someone who has a strong opinoin about gun control as while i debate i tend to learn from my opponent adn would like a chance to better understand the mindset of the gun control crowd.

but thats just me.

I've contacted a member who appears to be very strong in opposition of guns, and I am assuming he has contacted you at this point. In the next day or two, maybe we can get this up and running. If you've not been contacted as of yet, u2u me and I will put you in touch.

On the "H2H Kamikaze" front, I've received a few notices that members are interested, so we may see something up and running early next week. If I can an opportunity, I may try to author one tomorrow.

Good luck and thanks to everyone for their efforts to get this forum up and running.

Keep On, Keepin On!

All members who have participated in a Head-2-Head Debate so far, have all been awarded with a substantial amount of points. The staff would like to say "Thank You" for participating and giving us all these great reads. ATS is the best of the best, and to debate on our boards can be intimidating at times. To tackle any of our members on any issue, any member would have their work cut out for them Each and every debate so far has reinforced this.

So from the staff, Thank You! Enjoy your points and don't spend them all in one place.

Head-2-Head Kamikaze Debate: Is Democracy The Best Form Of Government?

Members enjoies05 & whatukno are preparing to do battle in the newly formed "Kamikaze Ring". Show them your support and be sure to stop by and read what they have to say. Neither participant has had any prior knowledge to the subject of this debate, and neither has had any influence on whether they were pro or con. I've selected the subject at random, and a coin toss was the determining factor in who was pro/con.

I wish these two astute members the best of luck!

If anyone else is interested in taking part in a "Kamikaze" Debate, please send me a u2u with a title that clearly states, "H2H Kamikaze Debate". If you can put that title on it, it allows me to organize things much easier. It may be a few days or more before I can assign you to a debate, so this would be an added bonus for me.

Thanks!

chissler,

I'm wanting to nominate Johnmike and DYepes for a H2H debate on the very heated debate going on in this thread. It's about a debate captured off of FOX news between Geraldo and O'Reilly. I found the video quite entertaining actually, as did many others. These two, however, have taken the debate further, and I'd like to see these two very adamant sides debate this issue a bit more in depth, for the board's sake, of course.

Just a thought,

TheBorg

If those members are interested, they should feel free to contact me about this.

I'll keep an eye out.

Well, I'd like to take a minute here to skim through how the H2H Debate Forum has played out thus far. So far we have had nine debates and each and every one of them has been a complete success in my opinion. Each member who has participated has been rewarded in one way or another, and I'm quite certain that we've all walked away from this with a little more experience to help us with future debates.

With the creative minds of some of our members, we have seen the creation of the H2H Kamikaze Debate which has kicked off already. We currently have two members doing battle over the subject of Democracy, and I have to say that I like what I see so far. It is my hope that we'll see a few more members put themselves out there and try to do battle in a Kamikaze Debate.

Again, these are all for fun so if you find yourself in the middle of a debate and it is a real burden, contact me. We'll adjust something and make things fun.

It is now that I would like to take this opportunity to throw a new idea out there for our members, and see what they think. I've been thinking about it for a day or two now, and I am very excited to see this one take life.

Head-2-Head PODCast Debates

A lot of members are frequent to the PODCast area of Above Top Secret, and I'm certain that they will take hold to this quickly. But others who have not, may see this as an opportunity to put themselves out there. Members who are looking to debate in this fashion, they will have a strict set of rules to abide by and a strict format. Very simple, but to keep things organized we would have a certain structure. Members would have input on how long the PODCast can be, but submissions, time frame, etc., are something that I would want to be etched in stone.

I think, that I have the skills for debating.

I'd tackle topics with an un-biased approach (to the best of my abilities).

I feel like David in the story of David and Goliath.

After my son's chemo, and when he recieved a gift -16 ft. boat (from the Childrens' Wish Foundation)...

I named my son's boat: "David's Goliath"

It's a term that has stuck with me. "NEVER BACK DOWN".

If you like, we can arrange a debate where there are no "winners" and "losers". If you wish to debate a subject with another member, I can provide an environment where the two of you debate and receive constructive criticism at the end. Take in a few pointers on how to "harness" your debating skills.

The ultimate goal of this forum is to have fun. So win or lose, if you have fun, then we've done our job.

Let me know what you think. Whatever you want, we'll make it happen.

I think I want to stick to the rules of general debative format.

With that in mind: I want to stipulate certain rules:

* A poster will agree to answer a debators' rebuttal within a 24 hour period. Failure to answer within this proper time will automatically forteit ones position.

*Outside links are permitted; only 1 link permitted to one's posting at a time.

*Emotional postings are permitted; however the emotional content of the topic must not carry on after EXACTLY 3 sentences' IN A ROW. No more, No less.

*No disussion of Weapons, Military, et al. will be allowed.

* Debators must have a kind respect for each other.

*Grammatical correction is allowed.

These are my sole conditions. ~ TheDuckster~

What exactly consists of Emotional postings ?

Grammatical correction is allowed.

Err one of the H2H debate rules is that no editing is allowed.

If anybody wants to debate a topic with me send me a U2U and we will talk turkey.

Emotional postings will consist of that which is not logical.

i.e. "I feel this pertains to...."

i.e. "I am certain of this from my experience...(providing ligit links)

i.e. "I am saddened by the remark...".

I appolgise if i mentioned about 'grammatical errors' that did not pertain to ATS rules.

These are concidered valid in debating with said topics.

I agree chisler.
Great Idea!

I've already posted some terms as stated previously, and if you can find a debator-match for me; much appreciated my friend.

Please U2U me with the details.

I think we need an Iraqi war debate. That would make this forum light up like a May-time Christmas tree. Talk about Christmas in the summer!!! I'd be willing to debate either side, but I'd prefer the con side of the war, as I can't stand our presence there. Anyone wanna take me up on it? I made sure to check the forum for anything like it, and didn't see anything, so here I am.
