The Trouble With Islam

Mainstream Muslim teaching accepts and promotes violence. Wow what a shocker.Who would ever guess. Politicians in the west believe that Islamic extremism is caused by the Arab-Israeli conflict. Rational people not buying it.Islamist murdered of over 150,000 innocent people in Algeria just in the in the last few decades. Feminists ignore the fact that large numbers of women in the Islamic world live under threat of beating, execution and genital mutilation, or cannot vote, drive cars and dress as they please. Islamic teaching seeks to subjugate non-Muslims to Islam as dhimmis and justifies declaring war to do so. When Westerners make politically-correct excuses for Islamism it endangers the lives of the reformers an suppresses their voice. Excellent article in the wall street journal.

I have no qualms about saying that. It is an evil and murderous philosophy, intent on taking over the world at the point of a sword, and imposing sharia law on all of us. Yet we in the West are bending over backwards to accommodate their every whim and not offend them!.........to our own hurt!-

To point to Islam only and say how evil it is, is to say the least disingenuous, and at most evil its self. Every religion has good and bad points to it. Right now most Islamic countries are suffering from poverty and oppressive governments propped up by the US government, hence the hate by the people towards the US.
As for the Sharia laws being evil, I find them to be no more or less evil then the Christian Bible, you know the book that recommends that homosexuals be stoned to death.

I find that rather funny, because that is exactly what we are doing. Invading their countries and imposing our believes on them, at the point of a M-16A3 assault rifle, and bunker buster bombs. But they are the evil ones? Please explain.

I see much correlation between what Islam teaches and the Old Testament of the bible. However, there is nothing similar between Islam and the New Testament as best as I can tell. I have very little regard for the Old Testament, exempting the Ten Commandments.

What do you expect out of a religion that was founded by an child molester? Sure you could marry as many women as you wanted back then, but 13 wives? And marrying a 6-9 year old girl had to raise eyebrows back then also.

well, there is that one line in luke where jesus tells his followers to slay the nonbelievers before him. and that whole end of the world business in which jesus is all but cuddly.

the problem isn't so much islam teaching violence, all major religions (exempting buddhism here, but that's the exception that proves the rule) teach violence and intolerance, it's all about how the followers look at it.

speak is a good example, not holding up part of the religion because it isn't exactly in jive with being a decent human being. HOWEVER, the same documents speak has little regard for are held up by another religion quite peacefully in most circumstances.

Madness, well, I don't know which scripture you are referring to from Luke, but in reference to the "end of the world" and Jesus, most of that depends on how one interprets Revelation.

Now, I am not going into any diatribe about this here because it will derail the thread... However, Madness, I think you are quite aware of my opinion of Biblical prophecy and most people's interpretation of them. So..

Jesus referenced the Old Testament and fully endorsed it, to follow Jesus is to except the Old Testament. You can’t have faith in Jesus without it.

Mr Mxyztplk, we will have to discuss this elsewhere and at another time because it will derail this thread. Suffice to say, part of the reason that Christ was crucified is because he didn't agree with the priesthood of the time. What did the priesthood of the time believe in? The Talmud and the Old Testament.

Religion is poison. We should dispense with all of it. Too many people have been murdered in the name of it for it to be as benign as it claims to be. It's own history has proven it a liar.

Hypocrisy is the watchword of religion.

What I find most disturbing is when political correctness attempts to justify or accomodate cultural differences, such as those mentioned in most cultural aspects surrounding the religion of Islam. This would violate the constitutional rights of a person in the U.S. and it would violate the law. This is unacceptable.

Christ fulfilled the Old Testament. It's done.

You definately can have the New without the Old.

I think Christianity got brought into the subject because I mentioned the correlation with what Islam believes and the Old Testament of the Bible.

There's a lot of obviously right wing, jesus freak types in here spouting off about how hate filled Islam is (in their obviously well-educated view).

I'll tell you what I see: I see a bunch of hate filled hypocrits bitching about how hate filled they think something else is.

Pot, kettle, black, etc, etc...

Its especially funny to see Christians harping on about evil Islam, considering Christianity and its blood-soaked BS.

Flyers, like you, I am failing to see the "Jesus freaks." Although, there are a few posts here that seem very anti-Islamic but considering what Islam is doing, like threatening the life of the Dalai Lama and such, it isn't a surprise really.

Hey .. it's not just 'in the Islamic world'. There are some whacked Imams in the West who call for muslims to beat women. Remember Australia .. women who are uncovered are meat and should be raped?
